GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

agVantage Sinnazine 900 WG Herbicide is a pre-emergent herbicide that selectively kills plants and seedlings by absorption through the root system, with minimal foliage absorption. It is most effective when applied to bare, moist soil. If vegetation is present at spraying, a knockdown herbicide should be applied. The herbicide is highly insoluble in water, typically remaining in the top 5cm of the soil. It is inactivated by absorption onto charcoal, carbonaceous materials, muck solid, or soils high in organic matter, requiring higher rates in these soil types.

ARAUCARIA, COTYMBIA, EUCALYPTUS, AND PINUS PLANTATIONS:

Field trials and experience indicate tolerance in the following species:

  • Araucaria: All commercial species
  • Corymbia: Maculata
  • Eucalyptus: Agglomerate, calophyfia, camaldulensis, cladocalyx, cloeziana, globulus, grandis, laevopinea, nitens, pilularis, pseudoglobulus, regnans, rudis, saligna, wandoo
  • Pinus: Caribaea and hybrids, elliotii, pinaster, radiata

INTEGRATED WEED MANAGEMENT STRATEGY FOR TT CANOLA:

The use of agVantage Sinnazine 900 WG Herbicide in TT canola is subject to an Integrated Weed Management Strategy. This strategy includes integrated weed management, specific management of crop plant volunteers and outcrossing, and triazine herbicide residue management. Compliance with registered label directions and the principles outlined in the strategy is recommended to minimize herbicide resistance, reduce triazine residues in the environment, and manage volunteer plants and outcrossing. Copies of the strategy are available from Crop Life (www.croplifeaustralia.org.au) or agVantage Wholesale Group. Consultation with an agronomist, consultant, or departmental adviser is advised before use on TT Canola.

TO MINIMIZE HERBICIDE RESISTANCE:

  • Avoid dry sowing in heavily weed-infested paddocks. Wait for weed germination after opening rains in weedy paddocks. Use pre-plant knockdown or cultivation, ensuring no weeds survive at this stage.

  • Adapt the weed control program to the anticipated weed spectrum and pressure:

    • Broadleaf Weeds and Ryegrass: Use simazine 900 g/kg or atrazine 900 g/kg plus trifluralin pre-emergence. Follow up with a Group A herbicide or atrazine 900 g/kg if ryegrass is susceptible.

    • Broadleaf Weeds only: Use atrazine 900 g/kg post-emergence.

    • DO NOT use atrazine 900 g/kg or simazine 900 g/kg if the area had a triazine herbicide applied last season.

    • Watch for escapes, especially in paddocks with a long history of Group C herbicide use. DO NOT use Group C herbicides in consecutive years.

RESISTANT WEEDS REPORTING:

Growers should collect plant or seed samples from potentially resistant weeds, get them tested, and seek professional advice.

TO AVOID TRIAZINE CARRYOVER:

  • On acid soils (pH less than 6.5): Maximum rate is 2.2 kg ai/ha.

  • On alkaline soils (pH greater than 6.5): Maximum rate is 1.1 kg ai/ha.

  • Post-emergence use: Use atrazine 900 g/kg only at rates of 1.1 kg ai/ha or less on both acid or alkaline soils.

RESISTANT WEEDS WARNING:

GROUP C HERBICIDE

agVantage Simazine 900 WG Herbicide belongs to the triazine group of herbicides with the inhibitor of photosynthesis at photosystem II mode of action. It is a Group C herbicide for weed resistance management. Naturally occurring weed biotypes resistant to this product and other Group C herbicides may exist due to genetic variability. Resistant weeds will not be controlled by this product or other Group C herbicides. Detection of resistant weeds before use is challenging, and agVantage Wholesale Group accepts no liability for losses resulting from the failure of the product to control resistant weeds.

MIXING:

  • Mix with water and apply with suitable spray equipment.

  • Fill the spray tank 60-80% full with clean water before adding the product. Agitate vigorously during mixing and spraying.

  • To prevent excessive foaming, add Foam-Ex at 20 mL/1000 L water before adding agVantage Sinnazine 900 WG Herbicide.

  • Pour the required amount of product steadily into the spray tank, allowing vigorous bypass agitation for complete dispersion. Do not dump product into the tank all at once.

  • After adding the product and achieving complete dispersion, continue filling the tank to the desired level for spraying. Maintain agitation throughout the spraying operation. Do not leave the spray solution standing in the tank overnight.

APPLICATION:

  • Use a boom sprayer or knapsack for small areas. Apply 50-200 L of mixture per hectare with a boom and a minimum equivalent of 500 L per hectare through a knapsack sprayer.

  • Clean spray equipment immediately after use with a tank and equipment cleaner.

  • TT Canola: Do not apply by aircraft. Use a low boom sprayer with a 60 m buffer zone downwind of treated fields to natural or impounded lakes or dams, and a 20 m buffer zone for any well, sinkhole, intermittent, or perennial stream. Apply only where runoff is unlikely, or runoff may be captured by farm earthworks.

SOIL MOISTURE:

  • If sufficient rain to wet the weed root zone has not fallen within 14 days of application, water in with the equivalent of 13 mm of rain.

  • If applied under dry conditions and irrigation is not available, mechanical incorporation to a depth of not more than 4 cm within 7 days of sowing may assist results.

COMPATIBILITY:

  • This product may be mixed with Amitrole T, Atrazine (900 WG or flowable), Diuron (900 WG or flowable), Weedmaster Duo, Credit + Bonus, Paraquat/Diquat 250, Paraquat 250 mixtures. Conduct a small-scale compatibility test before mixing.

PRECAUTION:

  • Re-entry period: Do not enter treated areas without protective clothing until the spray has dried.

PROTECTION OF CROPS, NATIVE AND OTHER NON-TARGET PLANTS:

  • DO NOT spray foliage of desired plants, except lupins (WA only).

  • DO NOT make more than two applications during any one year in certain crops.

  • DO NOT use under specific trees, ornamental Prunus, or near newly planted shrubs.

  • DO NOT plant crops other than those recommended on this label for at least nine months following treatments at rates up to 2.5 kg/ha. When rates exceed 2.5 kg/ha, plantings may not be possible for very long periods.

  • DO NOT use on sandy or porous soils near desirable plants or trees, or where roots may extend near the surface.

  • Certain crops are sensitive to simazine residues.

  • DO NOT exceed the highest recommended rate for any particular crop.

  • DO NOT use on white or grey sands (WA only).

  • DO NOT use in channels or drains where roots of desirable plants may extend.

  • Avoid deep cultivation of certain crops, which may reduce weed control.

HEAVY RAINFALL AND APPLICATION:

  • Heavy rain following application prior to emergence may cause damage to chickpeas.

DRIFT WARNING:

  • DO NOT apply under weather conditions or from spraying equipment that may cause spray drift onto nearby susceptible plants/crops, cropping lands, or pastures.

PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE, FISH, CRUSTACEANS, AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • DO NOT apply within 60 m of natural or impounded lakes or dams.

  • DO NOT use in channels or drains where roots of desirable plants may extend.

  • Wash the sprayer thoroughly with clean water after use.

  • DO NOT contaminate streams, rivers, or waterways with the chemical or used containers. The product is highly toxic to algae and aquatic macrophytes.

STORAGE AND DISPOSAL:

  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • Store in the closed, original container in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area, out of direct sunlight.

  • Shake empty bags into the spray tank.

  • Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on-site.

  • Puncture or shred and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill.

  • If no landfill is available, bury the containers below 500 mm in a disposal pit marked for this purpose, away from waterways, desirable vegetation, and tree roots.

  • Empty containers and product should not be burnt.
