Corn gromwell

Buglossoides arvensis

Annual or winter annual with alternate, linear, pubescent leaves in the Boraginaceae (Borage) family. Tiny white flowers in leaf axils in mid to late spring. Found in pastures, lawns, fencerows, winter annual crops, non-crop areas. Roots were used to make a red dye. Has some poisonous alkaloids in plant, but not commonly cause of poisoning.
