GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Mixing:

  • Rainbow Captan 900 WG Fungicide mixes easily with water and should not be pre-mixed. Add the required amount of product slowly to water under agitation in the spray vat. Maintain agitation throughout spraying. Thoroughly remix after any stoppage before recommencing spraying.

Compatibility and Crop Safety:

  • Rainbow Captan 900 WG Fungicide is compatible with commonly used wettable powders and suspension concentrate insecticides and fungicides. However, caution is advised when mixing with emulsifiable concentrates. Consult product labels and industry guidelines before tank mixing. Exercise caution when using mixtures on fruit trees or vines without prior experience.

  • Compatibility with specific products is listed. Avoid mixing Rainbow Captan 900 WG Fungicide with Bordeaux mixture, lime sulfur, or oils. Do not combine with or apply before/after oil sprays within 14 days. Exercise caution with combinations of captan and sulfur on sulfur-sensitive crops.

  • Tank mixtures with Lorsban® 500EC or Nimrod® may leave oily residues in spray vats. Avoid tank mixtures with Folidol® M500 on apples and pears due to potential phytotoxicity.

  • Conduct a small-scale test before applying chemical mixtures to entire crops, especially with different varieties within crop groups.

Application:

  • Ground application rates are specified for high-volume spraying to the point of run-off. Aerial application is not recommended.

  • Dilute Spraying: Use sprayers designed for high water volumes, ensuring even coverage throughout the crop canopy. Apply water to the point of run-off, adjusting volumes as the crop grows.

  • Concentrate Spraying: Utilize sprayers for lower water volumes, ensuring even coverage throughout the crop canopy. Determine appropriate dilute spray volumes to calculate concentrate mixing rates. Adjust spraying parameters as the crop grows. Do not exceed specified concentration rates for crop safety.

Example Concentrate Mixing Calculation:

  1. Determine dilute spray volume (e.g., 1000 L/ha).

  2. Choose concentrate spray volume (e.g., 500 L/ha).

  3. Calculate concentration factor (e.g., 1000 L ÷ 500 L = 2).

  4. Adjust concentrate rate based on concentration factor (e.g., if dilute label rate is 125g/100L, then concentrate rate becomes 250g/100L of concentrate spray).
