General Instructions for Genfarm Centaur 100 Insecticide:

Overview: Genfarm Centaur 100 is a contact and residual insecticide used for protective treatment at regular intervals or as a knockdown treatment for existing infestations.

Insecticide Resistance Warning:

  • Group 3A Insecticide.
  • Some insect biotypes resistant to Genfarm Centaur 100 may exist due to genetic variability.
  • The resistant individuals can dominate the insect population if the insecticide is used repeatedly.
  • No liability for losses due to resistance. Specific resistance management strategies may apply.

Specific Resistance Management:

  • In NSW and Qld, application to Helicoverpa armigera larvae longer than 5 mm may not be effective and may increase synthetic pyrethroid resistance.
  • Should NOT be used to treat infestations not controlled by an earlier application of it or another synthetic pyrethroid.
  • Treat resistant infestations with an insecticide from another chemical group (e.g., NUDRIN).

Mixing: Add the required quantity of Genfarm Centaur 100 to water in the spray tank and mix thoroughly. Maintain agitation during mixing and application.

Application: Can be applied by ground or aircraft. Thorough coverage is essential for adequate control. Apply during cooler parts of the day or night.

Ground Application: For low volume spraying, use 50-200 L/ha except for specific crops where higher volumes are recommended. Drop arms should be used in row crops taller than 30 cm. Fine spray is preferable using hollow cone nozzles unless directed otherwise.

Aerial Application: Do NOT apply to trellis tomatoes by aircraft. Use at least 10 L/ha of total spray volume. If possible, spray in a crosswind. Avoid calm conditions or light and variable winds. Apply as a spray of 100-150 microns VMD.

Compatibility: Compatible with various products. DO NOT mix with wettable powders and WDGs before addition to the spray tank. Compatible with Dithane WDG if agitated efficiently and used immediately. Read the label of any chemicals mixed, follow instructions and restrictions.

Protection of Livestock: Dangerous to bees. Do NOT spray on flowering plants while bees are foraging. Known to have a deterrent effect on foraging bees for a short period after spraying.

Protection of Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans, and Environment: Dangerous to fish and aquatic invertebrates. DO NOT contaminate water bodies. Drift and runoff may be hazardous to adjacent aquatic life.

Storage and Disposal: Store in a closed, original container in a cool, well-ventilated area. Avoid prolonged sunlight exposure. Rinse containers before disposal. Do NOT dispose of undiluted chemicals on-site. Follow recycling or disposal guidelines based on local regulations.

Safety Directions: Harmful if swallowed. Irritates eyes and skin. Facial skin contact may cause temporary numbness. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and inhalation of vapors or spray mist. Wear protective clothing during preparation and use. Wash hands, arms, and face thoroughly after use.
