GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Choice Simazine 900 WG is a pre-emergent herbicide effective through root absorption, selectively killing plants and seedlings with minimal foliage absorption. Best results are achieved on bare, moist soil. If vegetation is present during spraying, a knockdown herbicide should be added. The product remains in the top 5 cm of soil and may require higher rates in soil with charcoal, carbonaceous materials, muck solid, or high organic matter.

ARAUCARIA, CORYMBIA, EUCALYPTUS, AND PINUS PLANTATIONS: Field trials indicate tolerance in various species. Test tolerance before treating other species.

INTEGRATED WEED MANAGEMENT STRATEGY FOR TT CANOLA: Subject to an integrated strategy covering weed management, crop volunteers, outcrossing, and triazine residue management. Compliance with label directions and the strategy principles minimizes herbicide resistance, reduces triazine residues, and manages volunteers.

To minimize herbicide resistance:

  • Avoid dry sowing in heavily weed-infested paddocks.
  • Adapt the weed control program to the anticipated weed spectrum and pressure.

BROADLEAF WEEDS AND RYEGRASS: Use (Simazine 900 g/kg) or (Atrazine 900 g/kg) plus trifluralin pre-emergence. Follow up with a Group A herbicide or atrazine 900 g/kg if ryegrass is susceptible.

BROADLEAF WEEDS ONLY: Use Atrazine 900 g/kg post-emergence. Do not use atrazine 900 g/kg if the area had a triazine herbicide applied last season. Avoid consecutive use of Group C herbicides.

TO AVOID TRIAZINE CARRY-OVER:

  • On acid soils (pH < 6.5): Max rate is 2.2 kg ai/ha.
  • On alkaline soils (pH > 6.5): Max rate is 1.1 kg ai/ha.
  • Post-emergence use: Recommended rate is 1.1 kg ai/ha or less.

RESISTANT WEEDS WARNING: Choice Simazine is a Group C herbicide. Resistant biotypes may exist. Growers should collect samples for testing and seek professional advice.

MIXING: Mix readily with water. No premixing required. Add to the spray vat (50-75% full). Agitate during addition and spraying.

METHOD OF APPLICATION: Apply in a minimum of 50 L/ha (WA), 100 L/ha (SA, Vic, Qld, NSW), 200 L/ha (Tas). Ensure proper calibration. Do not exceed recommended rates.

TT-CANOLA: Do not apply by aircraft. Use low boom sprayer with buffer zones. Mechanical incorporation after application may enhance results.

INCORPORATION: Activate with rainfall, irrigation, or mechanical incorporation (not more than 4 cm deep) within 7 days of sowing.

ACTIVATION: If rain is insufficient, water in with 10 mm equivalent. Mechanical incorporation can help under dry conditions.

COMPATIBILITY: Compatible with specified products at recommended rates and dilutions. Add Simazine to the tank first and ensure complete dispersion.

These are general instructions, and growers are advised to consult with agronomists or advisers before use. Always follow label directions for specific crops and conditions.
