GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Guillotine Herbicide is a non-volatile herbicide effective against many annual and perennial broadleaf weeds and grasses. It is absorbed by plant foliage and green stems, with no significant translocation throughout the plant. The herbicide only kills the contacted parts of a green plant and does not provide residual weed control. Visible symptoms appear in 3 to 7 days, with complete desiccation taking 20 to 30 days under cool conditions. Best results are achieved under good growing conditions, and application to stressed weeds should be avoided.
SOIL FUMIGATION/STERILIZATION
Guillotine Herbicide is metabolized by soil microorganisms, becoming inactive. Soil fumigation or sterilization reduces microorganism numbers, slowing Guillotine Herbicide breakdown. Applying Guillotine Herbicide with soil fumigation or sterilization is not advisable due to potential damage to transplants or seedlings.
PLASTIC MULCHES
Guillotine Herbicide remains active on inert surfaces like plastic. Care is needed when applying over plastic mulches, as contact with the mulch after spraying may damage crops.
COMPATIBILITY
Guillotine Herbicide is compatible with most residual herbicides (e.g., simazine, oxyfluorfen, norfluazuron, oryzalin), glyphosate, and metsulfuron-methyl. While a wetting agent or adjuvant is generally not needed, using one may benefit hard-to-wet weeds with water rates exceeding 500 L/ha. The recommended rate is 25 mL/100 L of a 1000 g/L non-ionic wetting agent.
MIXING
Guillotine Herbicide mixes easily with clean water. The spray tank should be residue-free from previous materials. Add Guillotine Herbicide with agitator running, then other compatible products. Top up the tank with clean water and agitate.
APPLICATION EQUIPMENT
GROUND SPRAYERS
Apply a thorough, even spray to target plants, ensuring dense weed stands are wetted thoroughly. Incomplete coverage may result in poor control. Equipment should allow for adequate coverage, penetration, and spray volume.
BOOM OR DIRECTED SPRAYER EQUIPMENT
Apply Guillotine Herbicide at label rates in sufficient water for thorough weed coverage. Dust and turbulence from sprayer/slasher combinations should be avoided to prevent spray drift.
KNAPSACK AND HANDGUN EQUIPMENT
Apply Guillotine Herbicide at label rates with adequate water to wet sprayed weeds thoroughly (500 to 1000 L/ha). Dense stands may require up to 1000 L/ha, while less dense stands need less water. High-volume application with hollow-cone nozzles is recommended.
CONTROLLED DROPLET APPLICATION (CDA) EQUIPMENT
Use CDA row spraying equipment with impermeable shrouds, applying recommended rates. Apply when weeds are under 15 cm in height, ensuring the spray dome just touches the tops of the weeds. A total spray volume of 20 to 30 L/ha is effective. Do not mix residual herbicides or adjuvants with Guillotine Herbicide when using CDA equipment.
WARNING: Exercise care to avoid contact of the concentrated spray solution with any part of the crop trunk or canopy. Do not use CDA equipment in cherry orchards. Clean all equipment thoroughly after use by flushing with water. Refer to the section on PROTECTION OF CROPS, NATIVE AND OTHER NON-TARGET PLANTS for specific guidelines when using CDA equipment.
