MANAGEMENT OF SUBTERRANEAN TERMITES
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
-
APPLICATION EQUIPMENT:
- Hand Spraying:
- Use a rose head shrouded nozzle at 170 kPa with a flow meter and pressure regulator.
- Treatment Beneath Concrete Slabs or Sealed Areas:
- Use a sub-slab injector with a multi-directional tip, operated at 170 kPa.
- Injection into Soil:
- Use a soil rod with a multi-directional tip, operated at 170 kPa.
- Hand Spraying:
-
APPLICATION VOLUME:
- Adjust application volume for impervious soils. Do not use emulsion volumes less than 2 L for every square meter to be treated.
- Emulsion volumes other than 5 L/m2 are permitted only when installing barriers in exposed soil.
-
EXISTING STRUCTURES:
- a) Strategic Drilling Through Slab or Sealed Areas:
- Grid drilling of the slab is not required unless there is a known severe termite hazard.
- b) External Barrier:
- Install an external barrier around the perimeter using vertical or horizontal methods, as determined by construction type.
- a) Strategic Drilling Through Slab or Sealed Areas:
-
SUSPENDED FLOORS:
- Install vertical barriers as specified in Australian Standard Series AS 3660 around substructure walls, stumps, piers, pipes, and wastes.
TERMITE MANAGEMENT:
- Keep subfloor areas free of stored or waste timber and materials attracting termites.
- Eliminate dampness caused by leaks or inadequate drainage.
- Ensure adequate subfloor ventilation to eliminate undue dampness.
- Regular, competent inspections are recommended as part of an overall termite management program.
COLONIES NOT IN CONTACT WITH THE GROUND:
- Treat colonies not in contact with the ground as recommended for established colonies, as per Australian Standard Series AS 3660.
SERVICE REQUIREMENT:
- Regular inspections by a licensed Pest Manager are recommended for determining termite pressure and environmental conditions.
PERIOD OF EFFICACY:
- Efficacy depends on factors such as termite hazard, climatic conditions, soil types, and gardening/landscaping practices.
GENERAL PEST CONTROL:
-
MIXING:
- Half fill the spray tank with water and add the required amount of Surefire Fortune 500 Multi-purpose Insecticide and Termiticide. Complete water addition with an agitator running.
-
CLEANING SPRAY EQUIPMENT:
- After use, empty the equipment, wash thoroughly, and drain. Dispose of rinsate/rinse water according to storage and disposal instructions.
HORTICULTURAL CROPS:
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
- Mix product slowly into water in the spray tank while stirring or agitating.
- For ground application, use sufficient water for thorough coverage.
RE-ENTRY TO TREATED AREAS:
- Field Crops, Tree Crops, and Vines: Do not enter until spray deposits have dried. If entry is necessary, wear appropriate protective clothing.
- Greenhouses: Do not enter until spray deposits have dried. Wear protective clothing and a respirator if required.
- Cotton Chippers: Do not enter until spray deposits have dried. Wear specified protective clothing.
