General Instructions:

Kelpie G-FOS 200 Herbicide is a non-volatile herbicide with non-selective activity against many annual and perennial broadleaf weeds and grasses. It is absorbed by plant foliage and green stems. However, it is not significantly translocated throughout the plant, affecting only the contacted parts. Here are some essential guidelines for its usage:

  • Application Conditions: Apply to moist soil before weeds emerge, and ensure sufficient moisture (rain or irrigation) post-application to move the chemical into the weed root zone. Best results occur when weeds are actively growing. Avoid applying under stressful conditions such as severe frosts, dry, or waterlogged conditions.

  • Soil Fumigation/Sterilization: Avoid using Kelpie G-FOS 200 Herbicide in conjunction with soil fumigation or sterilization, as it may slow down the breakdown process due to reduced microorganism activity in the soil.

  • Plastic Mulches: Exercise caution when applying over plastic mulches, as the herbicide can remain active on inert surfaces like plastic, potentially causing crop damage upon contact.

  • Resistant Weeds Warning: Kelpie G-FOS 200 Herbicide belongs to the phosphinic acid group of herbicides and is an inhibitor of glutamine synthetase. Some weed biotypes may develop resistance over time, so careful management and rotation of herbicides are essential.

  • Export of Treated Produce: Be aware of Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) or import tolerances in export markets. Check with Sinochem International Australia Pty Ltd for the latest information before use.

  • Compatibility: Compatible with most residual herbicides, but use caution with certain combinations. Wetting agents may be beneficial for hard-to-wet weeds.

  • Mixing: Mixes easily with water. Ensure the spray tank is free of residues from previous applications.

  • Application Equipment:

    • Ground Sprayers: Aim for thorough and even coverage, especially in dense weed stands.

    • Boom or Directed Sprayer Equipment: Apply at label rates with sufficient water for thorough coverage.

    • Knapsack and Handgun Equipment: Apply with adequate water volume to thoroughly wet weeds.

    • Controlled Droplet Application (CDA) Equipment: Apply at recommended rates with equipment set up to achieve thorough coverage, avoiding contact with crop trunk or canopy.

  • Sprayer Cleanup: Clean all equipment thoroughly after use by flushing with water.

  • Aircraft: Do not apply by aircraft.

Precautions:

  • Re-entry Period: Do not allow entry into treated areas until the spray has dried. Wear appropriate protective clothing and gloves when necessary.

  • Protection of Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans, and Environment: Avoid contaminating water bodies with the product or its container.

  • Protection of Crops, Native, and Non-Target Plants: Avoid drift onto nearby susceptible plants/crops. Take care to prevent contact with desirable foliage or bark, especially in young trees or vines. Do not allow contact with inert surfaces treated with the herbicide.

Storage and Disposal:

  • Store in a cool, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Triple rinse containers before disposal. Follow local regulations for disposal, avoiding burning or improper burial. For refillable containers, ensure they are fully emptied before returning for refill or storage.
