Resistance Warning:

  • GESAGARD 900 WG Herbicide belongs to the triazine group with the photosystem II photosynthesis inhibitor mode of action.
  • It is a Group C herbicide, and resistant weed biotypes may exist.
  • Syngenta Crop Protection Pty Limited accepts no liability for losses due to GESAGARD 900 WG Herbicide's failure to control resistant weeds.

Advice:

  • Consult local suppliers, consultants, the Department of Agriculture, Primary Industries Department, or a Syngenta Crop Protection representative for strategies and alternative treatments in case of resistance.

Uses:

  • Controls early competing broadleaf weeds in cotton when applied to actively growing young weeds.
  • When applied to bare soil in celery, chickpeas, potatoes, carrots, and cotton, it controls common broadleaf weeds and reduces grass density.

Mixing:

  • Mixes readily with water; no pre-mixing is required.
  • Spray vat should be no more than 25% full of water during mixing.
  • Vigorous agitation is required during the addition of the product. Pour product steadily, avoiding dumping all required product into the vat at once.
  • Fill tank, agitate for thorough mixing, and continue agitation while spraying.
  • Reseal partly used containers immediately.

Compatibility:

  • Compatible with Flowable Gesatop® and trifluralin.

Precautions:

  • Severe injury to cotton plants may result if heavy rain occurs between pre-emergence application and crop emergence or shortly after post-emergence spraying.
  • Re-entry period: DO NOT enter treated areas until the spray has dried.

Protection Guidelines:

  • DO NOT apply under weather conditions or from spraying equipment that may cause drift onto nearby susceptible plants/crops, cropping lands, or pastures.
  • DO NOT use on carrots on light sandy soils.
  • DO NOT plant crops other than carrots in GESAGARD treated cotton land for at least 6 months after the cotton crop removal.
  • DO NOT plant crops other than transplanted celery, chickpeas, or carrots in areas within 6 months following application of the product at rates above 1.2 kg per hectare.
  • DO NOT add 2,4-D or MCPA if pastures are undersown with Lucerne, Clover, or Medics, unless some damage is acceptable.
  • DO NOT add 2,4-D or MCPA if spraying cotton, vegetables, or seedling pastures.
  • DO NOT apply more than 2.5 kg per hectare of product post-emergent per season in cotton.
  • Heavy rain following application, prior to emergence, may cause damage to chickpeas.

Environmental Protection:

  • DO NOT contaminate streams, rivers, or waterways with the chemical or used containers.

Storage and Disposal:

  • Store in the closed original container in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight.
  • Dispose of undiluted chemicals, puncture or shred and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill.
