GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: Hammer Herbicide

Product Overview:

  • Hammer Herbicide is an emulsifiable concentrate formulation designed to be mixed with water.
  • It is a post-emergence herbicide used to enhance the control of certain broadleaf weeds, including marshmallow.
  • Application areas include fallows, winter and summer broadacre, horticultural crops, grass pastures, commercial, industrial, and public service areas, around agricultural buildings, yards, and other farm situations, as well as in tree fruits, nuts, and grapevines.
  • Can be used alone for volunteer cotton seedlings and desiccation of regrowth in cotton.

Symptoms:

  • Rapid absorption through the foliage leads to desiccation and eventual necrosis of susceptible weeds.
  • Environmental conditions, soil, and cultural practices can impact Hammer's activity.

Compatibility:

  • Hammer should be tank-mixed with knockdown herbicides, including but not limited to Gladiator, Roundup Power Max, Roundup CT, Credit/Bonus, or other glyphosate-based products.
  • Compatible with partner herbicides such as Atradex, atrazine SC, Banvel 200, 2,4-D amine, Logran, pendimethalin, Simagranz, simazine SC, TriflurX, and TrefIan.
  • Also compatible with non-ionic surfactants (wetting agents) like BS1000, Shirwet 600, and oil adjuvants including Supercharge and Hasten.

Resistant Weeds Warning:

  • Hammer Herbicide belongs to Group G herbicides.
  • Some weed biotypes may be naturally resistant. FMC Australasia Pty Ltd accepts no liability for losses due to the failure of Hammer to control resistant weeds.

Timing:

  • Application timing for pre-crop, volunteer cotton, and marshmallow in grass pastures: Small, actively growing weeds less than 6 to 8 leaves.
  • For cotton desiccation, apply to regrowth prior to harvest.

Mixing:

  • Add half the required water volume to the spray tank and start agitation.
  • Add any partner SC or WG herbicide, then Hammer, followed by the knockdown herbicide.
  • Maintain good agitation until spraying is complete. Do not store the mixture overnight.

Application:

  • Ground Sprayers:

    • Apply as a broadcast using a conventional boom sprayer with proper nozzles and calibration.
    • Spray volume: 50 to 150 liters per hectare (minimum 80 L/ha for volunteer cotton).
  • Knapsack, Pneumatic, Handgun Sprayers:

    • Apply Hammer at the recommended rate with labeled handgun rates of a knockdown herbicide.
    • Spray volume: 500 to 1000 liters, or higher for dense vegetation.
  • Aerial Application (for Cotton Desiccation Only):

    • Apply by fixed-wing aircraft in a minimum of 30 L/ha water, ensuring thorough coverage. Avoid exaggerated swath width.

Caution:

  • DO NOT apply by aerial application except for cotton desiccation.
