GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Product Description: Smart Loaded 540 Herbicide is a non-selective herbicide effective against most emerged weeds and plants. It provides no residual weed control and can be used before sowing any crop, except before transplanting tomato seedlings.

Application:

  • Suitable for use before sowing any crop, excluding transplanting tomato seedlings.
  • Can be mixed with certain herbicides for knockdown and residual weed control (see Tank Mixtures).
  • Absorbed by foliage and green stems, moving into the root system. Treat actively growing weeds; avoid poor or dormant conditions.
  • Effects on annual weeds may take 3 to 7 days, while perennials may take 2 to 3 weeks or more, especially in cool and cloudy conditions.

Mixing:

  • A non-volatile liquid that mixes readily with water.
  • Do not mix or store in galvanized steel, unlined steel containers, or spray tanks to avoid forming a flammable gas mixture.
  • Ensure the spray tank is free of previous residues.
  • Use plastic, fibreglass, rubber, aluminum, brass, copper, or stainless steel spray tanks and equipment.
  1. Fill the tank halfway with clean water.
  2. If using Smart Loaded 540 Herbicide alone, proceed to step 5; otherwise, add other products.
  3. Add other herbicides, insecticides, or additives per label directions.
  4. Add the required volume of Smart Loaded 540 Herbicide and mix well.
  5. Add the rest of the water, and, if needed, a non-ionic wetting agent. Use the mix promptly within 5 days.

Surfactant Addition:

  • Use a non-ionic wetting agent to improve weed control in high water rates or low product rates.
  • Add 200 mL of a 1000g/L wetting agent or 300 mL of a 600g/L wetting agent per 100 L of spray mix.

Application:

  • Ground Application:

    • Apply 25 - 100 L of spray mix per hectare.
    • Use fan nozzle equipment with pressures of 240-280 kPa.
    • Set the boom high for double overlap of nozzle patterns at the top of the weed canopy.
  • Aerial Application:

    • Use only in pasture or fallow before establishing new pasture, field crops, or fodder crops.
    • Do not apply within intensive cropping areas due to extreme consequences of accidental drift damage.
    • Do not exceed 2.6 L of Smart 540 Herbicide per hectare.
    • Use a spray volume of at least 20 L/ha with Micronair or boom equipment.

Drift Warning:

  • Avoid using when the breeze is blowing towards nearby desirable plants.
  • Do not apply under conditions that may cause spray drift onto susceptible plants, crops, or pastures.

Tank Mixtures — Compatibility:

  • Compatible with certain herbicides, insecticides, and additives (see Compatibility).
  • Various tank mixtures are recommended for improved weed control under specific conditions.

Application Checklist:

  • Do not treat weeds under poor growing conditions.
  • Do not add surfactants, adjuvants, or other pesticides unless directed on the label.
  • Rainfall within 1 hour of application causing runoff may require retreatment.
  • Grazing withholding period is not required, but delay grazing to ensure herbicide uptake.
  • Apply treatments to weeds with adequate leaf surface.
  • Consider plant toxicity for certain plants and delay grazing accordingly.

Note: Always adhere to specific recommendations, label directions, and local regulations provided by the distributor or manufacturer.
