GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Metsol 600 Herbicide is a selective herbicide absorbed by roots and leaves, with specific instructions for use in cereal crops and brush/herbaceous weed control in established pastures.
INSTRUCTIONS SPECIFIC FOR CEREAL CROPS (Tables 1, 2 & 3)
- Application Stage: Early post-emergence stage (3 leaf to before booting stage) or pre-plant.
- Weed Size: Best results with small weeds (no larger than 5 cm).
- Ideal Conditions: Rainfall to wet soil to a depth of 5 to 7.5 cm within 4 weeks of application.
- Soil Persistence: Depends on environmental conditions (pH, moisture, temperature, organic matter).
- Crop Safety:
- Do Not Apply To: Wheat varieties Miling, Jacup, King, or Harrier.
- Avoid on: Crops undersown with legumes, stressed crops, crops treated with other sulfonylurea herbicides.
- Application Equipment:
- Ground Spraying: Minimum 50 L prepared spray/ha.
- Aerial Application: Minimum 20 L/ha. Higher water volumes may improve weed control.
- Avoid spraying in: Temperature inversions, still conditions, or winds causing drift.
- Surfactant / Wetting Agent: Add a non-ionic surfactant (e.g., BS1000®) for cereals.
INSTRUCTIONS SPECIFIC FOR BRUSH AND HERBACEOUS WEED CONTROL, ESTABLISHED PASTURES AND PASTURE RENOVATION (Tables 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8)
- Application Conditions: Apply to actively growing, non-stressed plants for maximum herbicide uptake.
- Weed Control: Achieve thorough coverage for maximum herbicide uptake.
- Regrowth: May occur if applied to stressed plants or if complete coverage is not achieved.
- Legume Sensitivity: Legumes are extremely sensitive; overspraying will remove them from the pasture.
- Specific Weed Control: Barley grass, Brome grass, Silvergrass, and Winter Grass will not be controlled.
- Weed Recovery: Allow weeds to recover from grazing before herbicide application.
- Blackberries: Do not apply to bushes bearing mature blackberries.
- Application Equipment:
- Various Methods: Ground, air, handgun, boom spray, or gas gun (by helicopter only).
- Ensure Coverage: Thorough coverage is essential for maximum herbicide uptake.
- Surfactant / Wetting Agent: Add a non-ionic surfactant (e.g., BS1000®) for brush and herbaceous weed control.
- Spray Preparation: Mix with clean water, maintain agitation, and ensure the product is in suspension.
- Sprayer Cleanup: Thoroughly clean spray tanks after use to avoid injury to desirable pastures and crops.
USE OF SURFACTANT / WETTING AGENT
- Cereal Crops (Tables 1, 2 & 3):
- Add a non-ionic surfactant (e.g., BS1000) at 100 mL/100 L of final spray volume.
- Do not add when tank-mixing with terbutryn or diuron.
- Brush and Herbaceous Weed Control (Tables 4, 6 & 7):
- Add a non-ionic surfactant (e.g., BS1000) at 100 mL/100 L of final spray volume.
- When using an organosilicone penetrant or mineral spray oil, follow specific recommendations.
- Established Pastures and Pasture Renovation (Table 8):
- Add a non-ionic surfactant (e.g., BS1000) at 200 mL/100 L of final spray volume.
SPRAY PREPARATION
- Dry Flowable Granule: Mix Metsol 600 Herbicide with clean water.
- Steps:
- Partially fill the spray tank with water.
- Add the required amount of product with agitation.
- Add the remaining water and maintain agitation.

- Cleaning Steps:
- Drain and flush the tank, boom, and hoses for at least 10 minutes.
- Flush with a bleach solution (4% chlorine).
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Clean nozzles and screens separately.
