GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Weed Control: Nufarm Avadex Xtra provides 6-8 weeks control of wild oats and annual ryegrass when the seedbed is moist during the emergence period. Under very dry soil surface conditions, control may not be effective. Emerged weeds are not controlled.

Crop Safety:

  • Reduced emergence of cereals may occur if seeds are placed in the treated soil layer. Plant cereal crops at a depth not greater than 5-7 cm.
  • Over-spraying of headlands or corners may result in crop damage.
  • On heavy clay soils, crop thinning may occur in wheel tracks.
  • Environmental conditions affecting emergence or early crop growth may predispose crops to injury, especially when tank-mixing with other pre-emergence herbicides.

Soil Persistence and Following Crops: Under prolonged and extremely dry conditions, Nufarm Avadex Xtra may persist for several months, potentially causing damage to field oats and sorghum.

Spray Applications and Drift Risk Assessment:

  • Ground Sprayer Application: Use 40-100 L/ha of water with COARSE or larger spray quality. Ensure double overlap of nozzle patterns at the top of the weed canopy. Use higher water rates in stubble situations.
  • Apply to friable soil for uniform incorporation to a depth of 2-4 cm. Soil should be free of large clods and crop/weed residue.
  • Incorporate initially with heavy harrows or tyned cultivator, followed by final incorporation with a combine or airseeder/cultivator.
  • Check and record weather conditions before and after the spray application.

Mixing Instructions:

  • Nufarm Avadex Xtra is an Emulsifiable Concentrate that mixes readily with water.
  • Fill the spray tank with clean water, add Bonus if recommended, add Nufarm Avadex Xtra, recommended herbicide additive/insecticide, weedmaster® product (if required), and the remaining water.
  • Maintain adequate agitation during application and use the tank mix promptly.

Incorporation - Conventional Systems:

  • Two-pass incorporation provides superior weed control on heavier textured soils.
  • Incorporate with a cultivated seedbed using heavy harrows or tyned cultivator initially, followed by final incorporation with a combine or airseeder/cultivator.
  • Do not operate incorporation equipment at greater than 5-7 cm depth.

RESISTANT WEEDS WARNING: Nufarm Avadex Xtra is a Group 15 herbicide, and resistant weed biotypes may exist. Continuous use may lead to resistant weeds that won't be controlled. Nufarm accepts no liability for losses resulting from the failure of Avadex® Xtra to control resistant weeds.

COMPATIBILITY: Nufarm Avadex Xtra is compatible with various herbicides and additives. Check physical compatibility before tank mixing.

PRECAUTIONS:

  • Re-entry Period: Do not enter treated areas until the spray has dried unless wearing appropriate protective clothing.
  • Protection of Crops and Environment: Avoid spraying under conditions that may cause drift onto nearby susceptible plants/crops or watercourses.
  • Storage and Disposal: Store in a cool, well-ventilated area. Triple-rinse containers before disposal. Do not burn empty containers.
  • Refillable Containers: Empty contents fully into application equipment. Close all valves and return for refill or storage.

SAFETY DIRECTIONS:

  • Harmful if inhaled or swallowed. Will irritate eyes and skin. Repeated exposure may cause allergic disorders.
  • Wear appropriate protective clothing during handling and application.
  • Wash hands and contaminated clothing after use.
