GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Mixing:

  • Fill the spray vat with high-quality water.
  • With the agitation system operating, pour the required quantity of Nufarm Champ DP into the spray vat in a steady stream.
  • DO NOT pre-mix Nufarm Champ DP with water before adding to the spray vat.
  • If other pesticides are used, fully mix Nufarm Champ DP in the spray tank before adding other products.
  • Always add and mix Nufarm Champ DP first.
  • Sprays containing Nufarm Champ DP should be used within 3 hours of preparation and continuously agitated during this period.

Wetting Agents:

  • Addition of a wetting agent is required when Nufarm Champ DP is applied to Brassicas, Faba Beans, Peas, and Onions, irrespective of the method.
  • The wetting agent is also needed when applied as a concentrate spray or by aircraft.
  • Add a wetting agent at label rates when suitable, irrespective of the spray volume applied.
  • If a wetting agent is not required for Nufarm Champ DP, it can be added if needed for other pesticides.

Dilute Spraying:

  • Use a sprayer designed for high water volumes up to the point of run-off.
  • Match the sprayer to the crop being sprayed.
  • Set up the sprayer for even coverage throughout the crop canopy.
  • Apply sufficient water to cover the crop to the point of run-off.
  • Avoid excessive run-off.
  • Adjust water volume and sprayer setup as the crop grows.

Concentrate Spraying:

  • Use a sprayer designed and set up for concentrate spraying.
  • Match the sprayer to the crop.
  • Achieve even coverage throughout the crop canopy with a chosen water volume.
  • Determine an appropriate dilute spray volume (See Dilute Spraying above) for the crop canopy.
  • The mixing rate for concentrate can be calculated based on the concentration factor.

Example of Concentrate Mixing:

  1. Dilute spray volume (e.g., 1500 L/ha)
  2. Chosen concentrate spray volume (e.g., 500 L/ha)
  3. Concentration factor (e.g., 3X)
  4. If the dilute label rate is 10 mL/100L, then the concentrate rate becomes 3 x 10, i.e., 30 mL/100L of concentrate spray.
  • Adjust the chosen spray volume, product amount per 100L of water, and sprayer setup as the crop grows.
  • Consult industry guidelines, undergo competency training, and follow best practices for concentrate spraying.

Application for Specific Crops:

Deciduous Fruit:

  • Apply as a dilute or up to 2 times concentrate spray.
  • Use an air-blast spray calibrated based on PLANT ROW VOLUME and SPRAY VOLUME FACTORS.

Citrus and Litchis:

  • Apply only as a dilute spray.
  • Calibrate the spray equipment based on PLANT ROW VOLUME and SPRAY VOLUME FACTORS.
  • Consider using an oscillating boom sprayer for better penetration.

Avocadoes and Mangoes:

  • Apply as a dilute or up to 3 times concentrate spray.
  • Calibrate the spray equipment based on PLANT ROW VOLUME and SPRAY VOLUME FACTORS.
  • Use a sprayer fitted with cone nozzles for even distribution.

Olives:

  • Treat a small number of olive trees first to assess their reaction.

Vines:

  • Apply sufficient volume to wet all leaf surfaces to the point of runoff.
  • Use a medium to fine spray with cone nozzles or air-blast sprayers.

Tree Nuts:

  • Apply sufficient volume to thoroughly wet blossoms, nutlets, and foliage.
  • Use fine sprays, and airblast sprayers for young plantings.

Vegetables:

  • Thorough coverage is essential.
  • Dilute sprays: Apply with a sprayer fitted with cone nozzles at medium to fine spray.
  • Concentrate sprays: Calibrate based on PLANT ROW VOLUME and adjust concentration inversely to volume reduction.

Rhubarb Dip:

  • Refer to the Storage and Disposal section for dip disposal details.

Ground Rig Application:

  • Apply as a fine spray with a minimum of 250L of water per ha.
  • May be applied with hydraulic nozzles or fan-assisted rotary atomizers.
  • Avoid application in very windy conditions.

Aircraft Application:

  • Apply in a minimum of 20 L of water per ha.
  • Use hydraulic nozzles or rotary atomizers for a fine spray.
  • Avoid application in calm or very windy conditions.

FUNGICIDE RESISTANCE WARNING:

  • Nufarm Champ DP is a Group M1 Fungicide.
  • Be aware of fungicide resistance management.
  • Resistant fungi may exist through normal genetic variability.
  • Nufarm Australia Limited accepts no liability for losses due to the failure of the product to control resistant fungi.
