GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

MIXING

Prior to pouring, shake the container vigorously. Add the required quantity of Rustler to water in the spray vat while stirring or with agitators in motion.

APPLICATION

Ensure complete and uniform spray coverage on soil. Spray coverage may be compromised on ridged or excessively cloddy soil surfaces or where crop or weed residues limit contact with the soil. Reduced effectiveness can occur with reduced contact of the herbicide with the soil surface. High stubble loadings or ash from a recently burnt paddock may lead to poor soil contact. Unsatisfactory results may occur if ground cover from stubble exceeds 50%.

Standing stubble causes less efficacy loss compared to stubble dropped to the ground via mechanical means or grazing. It's advisable to delay application to recently burnt paddocks or windrows until rainfall disturbs the layer of ash, as Rustler binds to ash more strongly than to stubble (ash is free carbon).

SEED PLACEMENT & EQUIPMENT

Crop seed should ideally be sown below the applied band of Rustler to avoid reduced plant vigor. Sowing with knife points and press wheels is considered the safest configuration. Crop safety with disc seeding systems varies based on seed placement. Apply Rustler before sowing and incorporate it by using either a knife point and press-wheel planter or through full disturbance cultivation with trailing harrows. Incorporating with a knife point and press-wheel planter may reduce weed control in the drill row. Adjust working speed to avoid excessive soil throw into the adjoining seeding row when using this planter. Rustler may not control weeds germinating from depth, about to emerge, or already emerged but not controlled by knockdown herbicides.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Rustler requires adequate soil moisture for effective weed control. It is effective in warm, moist soils on small germinating grass weeds. Best results are achieved with sufficient rainfall soon after application or when soil movement from sowing incorporates the product into the weed root zone. Rustler's efficacy improves when soil temperatures decline below 10°C. Cool, moist soils in the months following application are favorable for residual grass weed control.

Caution: The potential for Canola and Mustard seedling damage may occur on:

  • Light soils with low organic matter if heavy rainfall follows sowing.
  • Dry-sown canola crops treated with Rustler after heavy rain events.
