GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

RESISTANCE WEED WARNING

Rustler 900 WG Herbicide belongs to the benzamides group with a microtubule assembly inhibition mode of action. It is classified as a Group D herbicide for weed resistance management. Some weed biotypes may be naturally resistant, and repeated use of Rustler 900 WG or other Group D herbicides can lead to resistant weed dominance. Rustler 900 WG Herbicide will not control these resistant weeds. FMC Australasia Pty Ltd accepts no liability for losses resulting from the failure of Rustler 900 WG Herbicide to control resistant weeds due to difficulties in detecting resistance prior to use.

SPRAY PREPARATION

Rustler 900 WG is a Water Dispersible Granule designed to be blended with water and applied as a spray. For larger boom sprays where direct addition of granules is not feasible, pre-mixing is required. Follow these steps:

  • Partly (30%) fill the boom spray tank with water.
  • Slowly add the required amount of Rustler® 900 WG into a pre-mixing vessel while agitating well.
  • Ensure the pre-mix is fully dissolved before adding it to the boom spray tank with the agitation system operating.
  • Fill up to the correct volume with water.
  • Keep the mixture in suspension at all times by continuous agitation.
  • Tank-mixtures should be tested for physical compatibility and efficacy before use.
  • DO NOT mix with MCPA. If tank mixing, Rustler® 900 WG must be in suspension before adding other herbicides, insecticides, or surfactants.
  • Thoroughly wash the sprayer after use.

APPLICATION

Ensure complete and uniform spray coverage on soil. Avoid application to ridged or excessively cloddy soil surfaces, or where crop or weed residues hinder soil contact. Reduced effectiveness may occur with limited herbicide contact with the soil surface. High stubble loadings or ash from a recently burnt paddock can lead to poor soil contact. Delay application to burnt paddocks or windrows until rainfall disturbs the ash layer, as Rustler 900 WG binds to ash more strongly than to stubble.

SEED PLACEMENT & EQUIPMENT

Sow crop seed below the applied band of Rustler 900 WG to avoid reduced plant vigor. Knife points and press wheels are recommended for safe sowing. Crop safety with disc seeding systems varies based on seed placement. Apply Rustler® 900 WG before sowing and incorporate using knife point and press-wheel planter or full disturbance cultivation with trailing harrows. Incorporation with a knife point and press-wheel planter may reduce weed control in the drill row. Adjust working speed to avoid excessive soil throw into the adjoining seeding row.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Rustler 900 WG requires adequate soil moisture for effective weed control. It is effective in warm moist soils on small germinating grass weeds. Best results are achieved with sufficient rainfall soon after application or soil movement from sowing. Efficacy improves when soil temperatures decline below 10°C. Cool moist soils in the months following application favor residual grass weed control.

Caution: The potential for Canola seedling damage may occur on:

  • Light soils with low organic matter if heavy rainfall follows sowing.
  • Dry-sown canola crops treated with Rustler® 900 WG after heavy rain events.

EQUIPMENT

Always ensure the sprayer is clean, using a suitable cleaner as directed. Recommended spray volume for certain turf situations is up to 100L/ha.

PROTECTION OF CROPS, NATIVE AND OTHER NON-TARGET PLANTS

DO NOT apply to, or allow spray to drift onto crops, pastures, or non-target plants, as injury may occur.

PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE, FISH, CRUSTACEANS, AND ENVIRONMENT

DO NOT contaminate streams, rivers, or waterways.

RE-ENTRY PERIOD

DO NOT enter treated areas until the spray has dried, unless wearing appropriate protective clothing. Clothing must be laundered after each day's use.

CROP ROTATION RECOMMENDATIONS

Rustler® 900 WG is predominantly broken down in the soil through microbial degradation. Minimum re-cropping intervals are recommended, but absolute elimination of all risks is not possible due to environmental variations.
