General Instructions
Rainbow Simazine 900 WG Herbicide is a pre-emergent herbicide most effective on bare, moist soil. Rain or irrigation within two weeks of application helps move the herbicide to the root zone for best results. Duration and effectiveness depend on application amount, soil type, leaching intensity, and weed species.
Integrated Weed Management Strategy for TT Canola
An Integrated Weed Management Strategy for TT Canola has been developed and funded by the Canola Association of Australia. It outlines sound agronomic practices and integrated weed management programs for optimal TT Canola performance. Consultation with an accredited agronomist is advised before using Rainbow Simazine 900 WG Herbicide on TT canola.
To Minimize Herbicide Resistance:
Avoid dry sowing in heavily weed-infested paddocks. Wait for weed germination after the opening rains and use pre-plant knockdown or cultivation.
Adapt the weed control program to the anticipated weed spectrum and pressure.
Avoid using atrazine or Rainbow Simazine 900 WG Herbicide if triazine herbicide was applied to the area last season.
Monitor for escapes, especially in paddocks with a history of Group C herbicide use.
Avoid consecutive use of Group C herbicides.
To Avoid Triazine Carry-Over:
On acid soils (pH < 6.5), the maximum rate of atrazine or simazine during the growing season is 2.2kg ai/ha. On alkaline soils (pH > 6.5), it's 1.1kg ai/ha.
For post-emergence use, use atrazine herbicide at rates of 1.1kg ai/ha or less on both acid and alkaline soils.
Resistant Weeds Reporting:
Collect plant or seed samples from weeds normally susceptible to atrazine and simazine, get them tested, and seek professional advice if resistance is suspected.
Mixing
Half-fill the tank with CLEAN water, start vigorous agitation, and add granules steadily. Ensure complete dispersion before filling to volume with water. Continue agitation during spraying. Do not leave spray solution in the tank overnight.
Application
Use a boom sprayer or knapsack for small areas. Apply 50-200L of mixture per hectare with a boom and a minimum equivalent to 500L per hectare through the knapsack sprayer. Clean spray equipment immediately after use.
Compatibility
This product may be mixed with Amitrole, Atrazine, Diuron, Rainbow Glyphosate 450, diquat, and paraquat-diquat mixtures. Conduct a small-scale compatibility test before mixing. For residual control of annual weeds, mix with glyphosate as directed. Use promptly and maintain adequate agitation.
