GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
TACKLE WG Herbicide is a systemic herbicide which acts by inhibiting cell division and growth in the tips of roots and shoots of sensitive plants.
- Careful consideration should be given to soil pH prior to using TACKLE WG. As the pH of soil increases the rate of product breakdown decreases. TACKLE WG is not recommended for use on soils with pH of 8.6 or higher as soil residual activity could adversely affect following crops and crop rotation options may be extended beyond normal intervals. TACKLE WG is intended for use on soils with pH of 8.5 or lower.
- Crops other than wheat, barley, oats, triticale and cereal rye can be particularly sensitive to very low concentrations of TACKLE WG in the soil. See crop rotation recommendations. Best weed control is obtained when rainfall or sprinkler irrigation wets the soil to a depth of 5 to 7.5 cm within 4 hours of application.

PRE-SOWING INCORPORATED BY SOWING
WA ONLY: Avoid applying to dry, sandy soils. Rapid leaching is possible with early season rainfall.
SA ONLY: Seek further advice prior to using rates above 15 g/ha on lighter soils with a pH of 7-8.5.
CONVENTIONALLY SOWN CROPS:
On soils with pH less than 7 application should occur just before sowing or with the actual sowing operation. On soils with pH above 7 timing the application just prior to sowing isn’t as critical. Spray onto a non-ridged surface absent of large clods and use low profile 10 cm combine points for sowing.
- Ensure sowing operation is done at a speed of 10 kph or more.
- Use a light set of covering harrows with the sowing operation.
- If spray is applied to dry soil and sowing will be delayed, incorporate immediately after spraying to prevent losses from wind erosion.

DIRECT DRILLED CROPS
Apply tank mixed with either:
1. Paraquat or Paraquat mixes or,
2. Wipe-Out 450 or other glyphosate 450 g/L product in accordance with manufacturer’s label and specifications.

POST CROP AND WEED EMERGENCE
Where treatment is delayed or where weeds are not actively growing due to adverse conditions, results may be slow to appear and weeds may be only stunted or suppressed.
Wheat, Triticale and Cereal Rye – apply after crop emergence when weeds are small and actively growing (Annual Ryegrass no more than 3 leaves, Zadok’s Code 13); Broadleaved weeds no more than 5 cm in height or diameter (for Black Bindweed refer to specific recommendations).
Barley and Oats – apply between 2 leaf stage of crop (3 leaf stage – SA only) and early tillering when weeds are small and actively growing (Annual Ryegrass no more than 3 leaves, Zodaks Code 13); Broadleaved weeds no more than 5 cm in height or diameter (for Black Bindweed refer to specific recommendations).
ALL CROPS: Do not use more than once each season in any one crop.

RESISTANT WEEDS WARNING
TACKLE WG Herbicide is a member of the sulfonylurea group of herbicides. TACKLE WG has the inhibitor of the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS) mode of action. For weed resistance management TACKLE WG is a Group B herbicide.
Some naturally occurring weed biotypes resistant to TACKLE WG and other Group B herbicides (including Annual Ryegrass and some broadleaf weeds) are known to exist. They can eventually dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly. These resistant weeds will not be controlled by TACKLE WG or other Group B herbicides.
Annual Ryegrass biotypes resistant to diclofop-methyl and other “grass specific” herbicides are often also resistant to TACKLE WG. Before using TACKLE WG on a population resistant to “grass specific” herbicides, have a resistance test conducted to ensure that it is still susceptible to TACKLE WG.
Since the occurrence of resistant weeds is difficult to detect prior to use, Adama Australia Pty. Ltd. accepts no liability for any losses that may result from a failure of TACKLE WG to control resistant weeds.
To prevent, or at least minimise the risk of resistant weeds occurring, use TACKLE WG, in tank mixes (if appropriate), and/or rotations with herbicides having different modes of action effective on the same weed species. Large numbers of healthy surviving weeds can be an indication that resistance is developing. Efforts should be taken to prevent seed set of these survivors.
DO NOT make more than one application of Group B herbicide to a crop, either pre-sowing incorporated by sowing or post crop and weed emergence.
If the user suspects that a Group B resistant weed is present. TACKLE WG or other Group B herbicides should not be used.
Strategies to minimise the risk of herbicide resistance are available. Consult your farm chemical supplier, consultant, local Department of Agriculture or Primary Industries or local Adama representative.

GRAZING ADVICE
- A nil withholding period for grazing TACKLE WG treated areas is applicable.
- Avoid grazing TACKLE WG treated areas within 24 hours of application to optimise weed control.

CROP SAFETY
- DO NOT apply TACKLE WG to crops or weeds that are under stress from any cause (such as severe weather conditions, drought, waterlogging, excessive soil acidity or alkalinity, poor nutrient status, disease, nematode or insect damage) as crop injury or poor weed control may result. When application is followed by severe stress (such as drought, prolonged cold, waterlogging or frosty conditions) some crop yellowing and growth retardation may occur. Crops normally recover without a loss in yield. Disease, nematode or insect damage following treatment may also result in crop injury.
- DO NOT use in cereals undersown with legume pasture crops, e.g. medics, clovers.
- DO NOT use on furrow or flood irrigated cereals.
- DO NOT apply TACKLE WG to light sandy ridges on soils low in organic matter as crop injury may occur.
- DO NOT apply other sulfonylurea herbicides following the use of TACKLE WG.
- The use of TACKLE WG on cereal varieties sown out of season may result in some yield suppression under stressed conditions (eg. aluminium/manganese toxicity, water logging, frost, etc).
Barley/Oats
– DO NOT apply TACKLE WG prior to the two leaf stage (Zadok’s code 12) of the crop (3 leaf stage in SA only - Zadok’s code 13).
– Reduced Barley yields may result from the use of TACKLE WG under waterlogged conditions but failure to spray under these conditions may result in even higher yield loss through weed competition and weed seed carryover.
– DO NOT apply to Stirling Barley.
Wheat
– DO NOT apply to the Milling or Cranbrook varieties.
– TACKLE WG may be used on Kulin on soils which are well drained, with adequate nutrient status (including trace elements), with low disease, nematode and insect damage potential and where soil pH is 5.5-7.5 (1:5, soil: water suspension method).
– Where TACKLE WG is used outside the above conditions then crop injury and/or reduced yield may result. Increased stem breakage may also occur.
– DO NOT apply to the Avocet and Durati varieties by the pre-sowing incorporated by sowing method of application.
– DO NOT apply to the Banks variety on soils of pH 5.5 or less by the pre-sowing incorporated by sowing application method.
– Vulcan variety may suffer some yield reduction on acid soils, particularly under stressed conditions (e.g. aluminium/manganese toxicity, waterlogging, frosts, etc.).

CROP ROTATION RECOMMENDATIONS
- Soils previously treated with TACKLE WG should not be rotated to crops other than those listed in the following tables.
- Crop tolerance (grown through to maturity) should be tested on small scale strips before sowing larger areas. TACKLE WG treated soils may be sown to any of the crops listed but only after the intervals indicated have been observed.

MIXING
TACKLE WG is a water dispersible granule to be mixed with water and applied as a spray. To incorporate this product into the spray tank adhere to the following recommendations:
1. Partially fill the spray vat with water.
2. Add the required amount of product.
3. Ensure agitation system is fully engaged.
4. Top up with the correct volume of water.
5. In tank mixes always ensure TACKLE WG is put in suspension before other compatible products.
6. When spray solutions have been allowed to stand in the spray tank for long periods thoroughly re-agitate before using.

USE OF SURFACTANT/WETTING AGENT
Always add a non ionic surfactant (1000 g/L) at 100 mL/100 L of spray volume (0.1% volume/volume), for post emergence application only.  Crop oils are not recommended for use.
Note: DO NOT add surfactant when tank mixing TACKLE WG with another product which already has a surfactant in its formulation.

GROUND SPRAYING EQUIPMENT
Use a boom spray properly calibrated to a constant speed and delivery rate to ensure thorough and even coverage from a uniform spray pattern. Overlapping should be avoided. Cut off booms whilst starting, when turning slowly or when stopping or crop injury may result. Apply in a minimum of 30 L prepared spray/ha.

AERIAL APPLICATION
Apply in a minimum of 20 L/ha of water. Avoid spraying in still conditions and in winds likely to cause spray drift onto sensitive crops or to where sensitive crops are to be sown. See crop rotation recommendations. Turn sprays off when crossing over any waterways.

SPRAYER CLEAN-UP
The following cleaning process must be followed to ensure subsequent injury is avoided in crops other than wheat, triticale, barley, oats and cereal rye. All traces of TACKLE WG must be removed immediately after spraying in the following manner:
1. Drain and flush the tank, boom and hoses with clean water for at least ten minutes.
2 Fill the tank with clean water and add household chlorine bleach (4% chlorine) at 300 mL/100 L of water. Flush through the boom and hoses and allow to agitate for 15 minutes then drain. Repeat this process.
3 Remove and clean nozzles, screens and filters separately.
4. Repeat step 1 to remove traces of chlorine bleach.
CAUTION: DO NOT use chlorine bleach in conjunction with ammonia. Failure to remove all traces of liquid fertilisers containing ammonia, ammonium nitrate or ammonium sulphate from the mixing and application equipment will release a gas with a musty chlorine odour when mixed with chlorine bleach which may irritate the eyes, nose, throat and lungs. Do not clean equipment in closed areas.

COMPATIBILITY
TACKLE WG can be tank mixed with paraquat and glyphosate. This product is compatible with the wild oats herbicides Avadex BW+ and Matavan+. TACKLE WG can also be tank mixed with Bromoxynil, MCPA, 2,4-D Amine and 2,4-D Ester. This product is also compatible with Trifluralin. This product is compatible with the EC formulations of the insecticides omethoate, dimethoate, deltamethrin, fenvalerate and chlorpyrifos.
