VERDICT 520 HERBICIDE: GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Best Application Conditions:

• Works best on small seedling weeds actively growing after significant rain or irrigation.
• Ineffective on large weeds (bigger than labeled) or those stressed by dry conditions, heat, or other factors.

Mixing Instructions:

1. Add water to the spray tank, ensuring a minimum of 100 L of water is present before adding any pesticide.
2. If tank mixing, add soluble liquid formulations first (e.g., Lontrel Advanced Herbicide), agitate for approximately one minute.
3. Add Verdict 520 where agitation is strongest (do not use a strainer or sieve), agitate for another minute.
4. Half-fill the spray tank.
5. Add wettable powder, water-dispersible granules, or other emulsifiable concentrate formulations (e.g., chlorpyrifos 750 WG or Le-Mat).
6. Finally, add Uptake Spraying Oil or an approved alternate oil/wetter, ensuring continuous agitation.
7. Mix only enough solution for immediate use. Apply Verdict 520 and any tank mixes immediately for best results.

Spraying Oils/Wetters:

1. Spraying Oils:

   • Add an adjuvant to Verdict 520; Uptake Spraying Oil is recommended at 0.5 L/100 L of spray solution.
   • Alternatively, other oils plus a non-ionic wetter may be used (mix at 1 L/100 L and add a non-ionic wetter at 200 mL/100 L).
   • Use of an oil is not always recommended; refer to critical comments for specific recommendations.

2. Non-ionic Wetters:

   • When Uptake or other oils are not used, a 100% concentrate non-ionic wetting agent (e.g., BS1000) at 200 mL/100 L must be used.
   • Use with the higher rate of Verdict 520 as specified in the DIRECTIONS FOR USE.
   • For water volumes less than 50 L/ha, do not use less than 250 mL/ha of Uptake or 500 mL/ha for other oils, or less than 100 mL/ha of wetter.

Crop-Specific Recommendations:

1. Canola, Lucerne, Medic, and Clover Pastures:

   • When tank mixing with Lontrel herbicides or Broadstrike herbicides, use Uptake Spraying Oil with lower rates of Verdict 520 or a wetting agent with higher rates.
   • When mixing with other broadleaf herbicides on these crops, do not use an oil, use a wetter instead.

2. Field Peas and Canola:

   • Recommended oil: Uptake Spraying Oil. Hasten is also recommended for tank mixtures of Verdict 520 and Status Herbicide.
   • For canola, Verdict 520 + Lontrel 750 SG + Uptake Spraying Oil is compatible and selective. This tank mixture is also compatible with atrazine or simazine and selective to triazine-tolerant canola.
