SPRAY DRIFT MANAGEMENT FOR GROUND APPLICATIONS
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Use good pesticide practices and apply only when the potential for drift to areas of human habitation or areas of human activity such as houses, cottages, schools and parks is minimal. Take into consideration wind speed, wind direction, temperature, application equipment and sprayer settings used for applications.
For the protection of non-target habitats, over-spray or drift to any body of water or other environmentally sensitive habitats must be avoided. The interaction of many equipment and weather-related factors determines the potential for spray drift. The applicator is responsible for considering all these factors when making application decisions.
GROUND APPLICATION:
USE ONLY ON CORN. Do not apply PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide at rates greater than 4.0 L/ha.
Apply atrazine at a maximum of 1.5 kg a.i./ha per year either as a pre- or post-emergent application before corn reaches 30 cm in height. Treatments can be made once or twice per year, but the maximum amount of atrazine used in a year cannot exceed 1.5 kg a.i./ha. Atrazine may be applied alone or as a registered tank mix partner. Refer to the tank mix partners for further instructions. PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM, when applied at 3 L/ha and 4 L/ha, contributes 1.0 and 1.3 kg a.i./ha of atrazine, respectively.
STORE IN A DRY PLACE.
Bulk sites must be diked around and under the bulk tank with an impermeable non-earthen dike. The dike must be large enough to hold and contain 110 percent of the capacity of the largest tank.
CAUTION: Do not graze or cut corn for fodder before ear emergence. Sufficient data are not available to support such use. Do not harvest sweet corn within 45 days of application. Do not harvest other corn within 80 days of application. Make only one application per season.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Do NOT contaminate irrigation or drinking water supplies or aquatic habitats by cleaning of equipment or disposal of wastes. Do NOT apply during periods of dead calm or when winds are gusty. Do not apply this product through any type of irrigation system. Do NOT overspray non-target terrestrial or aquatic habitats.
When a tank mixture is used, consult the label(s) of the tank mix partner(s), and observe the largest (most restrictive) buffer zone of the products involved in the tank mixture.
DO NOT APPLY BY AIR
As this product is not registered for the control of pests in aquatic systems, DO NOT use to control aquatic pests.
WEEDS CONTROLLED:
Crabgrass (smooth & hairy)
Wild Mustard 1
Barnyard Grass
Purslane (1)
Foxtail (green, yellow, giant)
Prostrate Pigweed
Witchgrass
Buckwheat
Fall Panicum
Smart Weed (1)
American Nightshade
Ragweed (1)
Lady's-thumb (1)
Redroot Pigweed (1)
Yellow Nutsedge (2)
Lamb's-quarters (1)
Eastern Black Nightshade
(1) Some naturally occurring triazine tolerant biotypes of these weeds may not be controlled by PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide. Refer to specific recommendations in the tank-mix section of this label or consult your local agricultural authority.
(2) For best results against yellow nutsedge use preplant incorporated.
NOTE: PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide contains benoxacor which has been shown to enhance S-Metolachlor metabolism in corn. This enhanced metabolism can reduce the potential of S-Metolachlor injury to corn seedlings when grown under unfavourable weather conditions such as cool temperatures or water stress.

TIMING OF APPLICATION:
Eastern Canada - Preplant Surface or Preplant Incorporated or Pre-emergence or Post-emergent (up to 6-leaf corn)
Prairies - Preplant Incorporated or Pre-emergence if irrigated within 10 days

PREPLANT SURFACE APPLICATIONS:
For minimum tillage (reduced tillage) and no-till (zero-till) systems in corn.
Applications may be made up to 30 days before planting.
To the extent possible, do not move the treated soil out of the row or move untreated soil to the surface during planting or weed control will be diminished.

PREPLANT INCORPORATED APPLICATIONS:
Immediate incorporation is not necessary.
Incorporation equipment should include rolling or western harrows.
On sandy soils, heavy rainfall following incorporated treatment may cause leaching of herbicide.

INCORPORATION INSTRUCTIONS:
TYPE OF EQUIPMENT / MAX. WORKING DEPTH / MINIMUM SPEED
"S" Tine Danish Cultivator / 10 cm / 10 km/hr
"C" Tine Cultivator with overlapping sweeps / 10 cm / 10 km/hr

(1) Consult the label of the product to be tank mixed with PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide for specific instructions regarding rotational crops; use rates under various conditions and rotational crops, grazing or other restrictions.
(2) A tank mix with a glyphosate-containing product requires the use of a non-ionic surfactant. Refer to the label of the tankmix partner and the surfactant for the specific mixing instructions. (See ‘MIXING AND SPRAYING INSTRUCTIONS’).
(3) Some perennial weeds may not be controlled with these glyphosate rates. Consult the tank mix partner label regarding perennial weeds controlled.
(4) DO NOT USE THESE TANK MIXES ON SEED CORN, SWEET CORN OR POPCORN.
(5) FIELD CORN ONLY.
(6) Will provide suppression only through the critical crop establishment phase and is to be used in a planned weed management program with a post-emergent herbicide treatment. Monitor the species and growth stages of escapes in order to better select a post-emergence herbicide application.
(7) Use of this tank mix will provide control of the following emerged weeds: Barnyard Grass, Buckwheat, Cocklebur, Crabgrass (smooth & hairy), Eastern Black Nightshade, Fall Panicum, Foxtail (green, yellow, giant), Lady’s-thumb, Lamb’s-quarters, Proso Millet, Ragweed, Redroot Pigweed, Wild Mustard, Witchgrass, and Velvetleaf.

Note: If using Fieldstar Herbicide, ensure that the water-soluble packets and the Fieldstar Herbicide are completely dissolved before proceeding to the next step.

APPLICATION IN LIQUID FERTILIZERS:
Nitrogen solutions or complete liquid fertilizers may replace water as a carrier for preplant incorporated or pre-emergence application of PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide in corn. Do not use fertilizer solutions for post-emergence application, as there is danger of liquid fertilizer causing crop injury. Always predetermine the compatibility of PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide tank mixes with your liquid fertilizer carrier by mixing small proportional quantities in advance.

DRY BULK GRANULAR FERTILIZERS:
Many dry bulk granular fertilizers may be impregnated with PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide for preplant incorporated application to control weeds in corn.
For workers incorporating atrazine into dry bulk fertilizers the following conditions must be met:
The activity is restricted to commercial facilities (prohibit on-farm impregnation).
The facilities must employ a closed mix/load system.
A maximum of 1500 kg active ingredient can be incorporated per day.
This activity must occur for no more than 30 days per year.

Prepare the herbicide/fertilizer mixtures by using a closed mix/load system. Spray the herbicide uniformly onto the fertilizer. If the herbicide/fertilizer mixture is too wet, the use of a highly absorptive powder (generally less than 2% by weight), such as Microcel E, diatomaceous earth or finely powdered clay is recommended.
For best results, apply PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide/fertilizer mixtures uniformly to the soil with properly calibrated equipment immediately after blending and incorporate according to label directions.

NOTE: Apply a minimum of 225 kg per hectare of dry granular fertilizer impregnated with recommended rates of PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide.

PRECAUTIONS: Do not impregnate PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide onto nitrate fertilizers, superphosphates or limestone.

BUFFER ZONES:
The buffer zones specified in the table below are required between the downwind point of direct application and the closest edge of sensitive aquatic habitats (such as lakes, rivers, sloughs, ponds, prairie potholes, creeks, marshes, streams, reservoirs, and estuarine/marine) and sensitive terrestrial habitats (such as grasslands, forested areas, shelter belts, woodlots, hedgerows, pastures, rangelands, and shrublands).

Method of application - Field sprayer (1)
Buffer zone required for the protection of:
Terrestrial habitat (m) – 10
Freshwater habitat (m) - 10
(1) For field sprayer application, buffer zones can be reduced with the use of drift reducing spray shields. When using a spray boom fitted with a full shield (shroud, curtain) that extends to the canopy, the labeled buffer zone can be reduced by 70%. When using a spray boom where individual nozzles are fitted with cone-shaped shields that are no more than 30 cm above the canopy, the labeled buffer zones can be reduced by 30%.

MIXING AND SPRAYING INSTRUCTIONS:
Protect sprayer operators from drift or mist. Additional information on spray drift management for GROUND APPLICATIONS is provided in the section “SPRAY DRIFT MANAGEMENT FOR GROUND APPLICATIONS”. When low volumes of spray are applied, complete coverage and thorough application are essential for most effective results. Schedule applications in accordance with local conditions. Consult your local agricultural authorities for specific use information.
Spray Pressure - 200 - 300 kPa
Spray Volume/hectare - minimum 150 litres
Use 16 mesh suction screens, 50 mesh screens elsewhere on sprayer.
Where possible use a nurse tank to fill your spray tank. Spray equipment should be thoroughly flushed with clean water before mixing PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide. Refer to the label of the tank mix partner and the surfactant for the specific mixing instructions.
1. Fill spray tank 1/2 full with carrier. Engage gentle agitation.
2. Add Lorox DF or Fieldstar if applicable. Slurry Lorox DF or Fieldstar with water first if using liquid fertilizer as the carrier.
3. Add PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide directly into the tank and maintain agitation. Ensure the PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide is well mixed before adding remaining ingredients.
4. Fill the tank to 3/4 full with carrier and then add the Lorox Liquid or Banvel II, if required.
5. Add the non-ionic surfactant, if using a glyphosate-containing tank-mix partner. Agitate to ensure thorough mixing.
6. Add the glyphosate-containing tank mix partner, if desired.
7. Complete filling the spray tank with carrier maintaining gentle agitation during mixing and spraying operations.
8. Do not let stand without agitation.

WARNING:
Do not plant any crop other than corn in the same year on land treated with PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide as injury may occur. The following year there is virtually no hazard to soybeans, white beans, corn, oats or barley (not underseeded to a legume) in Eastern Canada. Moldboard plough and till soil thoroughly before planting these rotational crops. In the Prairie Provinces, corn must be planted the year following application. However, when the rotational crop is subjected to stress conditions, e.g. abnormally hot, dry weather, preceded by extended periods of dry weather the previous season, injury may occur. Do not tank mix with any other herbicide or additive unless listed on this label.

Rate per hectare PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide – 4.0 L
Remarks - Make only one application per year. Apply in a minimum of 150 L water/ha. Apply by ground equipment only. Some naturally occurring triazine tolerant biotypes of these weeds may not be controlled by PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide. Refer to specific recommendations in tank-mix section of this label or consult your local agricultural authority. Pre-emergent to the field corn crop and tall waterhemp (for Prairies, treatment must be irrigated within 10 days).

PRECAUTIONS
KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. Harmful if swallowed. Avoid contact with eyes or prolonged contact with skin. Avoid inhalation of vapours or spray mist. During application, cleanup and servicing the sprayer wear chemical-resistant gloves, and coveralls over a long-sleeved shirt and long pants and chemical resistant boots. During mixing and loading, wear a face shield in addition to chemical-resistant gloves, and coveralls over a long-sleeved shirt and long pants and chemical resistant boots.
DO NOT re-enter treated areas within 12 hours of treatment. If required, individuals may re-enter treated areas within 12 hours of treatment for short term tasks not involving hand labour if at least 4 hours have passed since application and long-sleeved shirt, long pants and chemical resistant gloves are worn.
Do not eat, drink or smoke when using product. Wear freshly laundered clothes daily. Wash hands and face before eating, drinking, smoking or using the toilet. Store and wash all protective clothing separately from household laundry. Wash in detergent and hot water before reuse.
Mixing and loading is not permitted within 30 m from aquatic habitats.

ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS
Toxic to non-target terrestrial plants and aquatic organisms. Observe the buffer zones and precautionary measures specified under DIRECTIONS FOR USE. USE ONLY ON LABELLED CROPS.
To reduce runoff from treated areas into aquatic habitats, consider the characteristics and conditions of the site before treatment. Site characteristics and conditions that may lead to runoff include, but are not limited to: heavy rainfall, moderate to steep slope, bare soil, poorly draining soil (e.g. soils that are compacted, fine textured or low in organic matter such as clay). Contamination of aquatic areas as a result of runoff may be reduced by including a vegetative strip (buffer zone) between the treated area and the edge of the water body.
The use of this chemical may result in contamination of groundwater particularly in areas where soils are permeable (e.g., sand, loamy sand and sandy loam soils) and/or the depth to the water table is shallow. Avoid applying this product when heavy rain is forecast.
Atrazine is persistent and will carry over. It is recommended that any products containing atrazine not be used in areas treated with this product during the previous season.

RESISTANCE-MANAGEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS
For resistance management PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide is both a Group 5 and a Group 15 herbicide. Any weed population may contain or develop plants naturally resistant to PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide and other Group 5 and/or Group 15 herbicides. The resistant biotypes may dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly in the same field. Other resistance mechanisms that are not linked to site of action, but specific for individual chemicals, such as enhanced metabolism, may also exist. Appropriate resistance-management strategies should be followed.

To delay herbicide resistance:
Where possible, rotate the use of PRIMEXTRA II MAGNUM Herbicide or other Group 5 and 15 herbicides with different herbicide groups that control the same weeds in a field.
Use tank mixtures with herbicides from a different group when such use is permitted.
Herbicide use should be based on an IPM program that includes scouting, historical information related to herbicide use and crop rotation, and considers tillage (or other mechanical), cultural, biological and other chemical control practices.
Monitor treated weed populations for resistance development.
Prevent movement of resistant weed seeds to other fields by cleaning harvesting and tillage equipment and planting clean seed.
