PRODUCT BENEFITS
- One of few options for the control of Annual meadow grass in barley.
- Controls a range of broadleaved weeds.
- Cost-effective control of Annual meadow-grass in winter wheat.
- Controls Mayweed which is not well controlled by most autumn residual herbicides.

Additional Safety Phrases
Do not contaminate water with the product or its container. (Do not clean application equipment near surface water/Avoid contamination via drains from farmyards and roads.)
Do not allow direct spray from ground crop sprayers to fall within 5 m of the top of the bank of a static or flowing water body.
Direct spray away from water.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.

RESTRICTIONS
DO NOT apply to durum wheat, undersown cereals or those due to be undersown.
DO NOT allow direct spray from ground crop sprayers to fall within five metres of the top of the bank of a static or flowing water body. Direct spray away from water.
Avoid spray drift onto neighbouring crops.
Avoid overlapping spray swaths.
Thoroughly wash all spraying and measuring equipment immediately after use.

WEEDS CONTROLLED
ARELON 500 can be applied before or after weed emergence. Weed control is by root uptake and foliar action.
Latest growth stages controlled.

Specific weeds controlled at 3.0 l/ha
Annual grass weeds
Bent, loose silky (Three leaves (BBCH13))
Blackgrass (Three leaves (BBCH13))
Meadow grass, annual (One tiller, useful control post-emergence only)
Broadleaved weeds
Chickweed, common (Six true leaves (BBCH 16))
Hemp-nettle, common (Two true leaves (BBCH 12))
Marigold, corn (Two true leaves (BBCH 12))
Mayweed spp. (Six true leaves (BBCH 16))
Poppy, common (Two true leaves (BBCH 12))

Resistance
When herbicides with the same mode of action are used repeatedly over several years in the same field, selection of resistant biotypes can take place. These can propagate and may become dominating. A weed species is considered resistant to a herbicide if it survives a correctly-applied treatment at the recommended dose.
Development of resistance within a weed species can be avoided or delayed by alternating, sequencing or tank mixing with suitable products having a different mode of action. Some populations of Blackgrass have been identified as being susceptible to Enhanced Metabolism Resistance (EMR) and control with ARELON 500 could therefore be reduced. In these situations additional control measures may need to be considered (e.g. sequences or mixtures with products that have a different mode of action).
When using isoproturon to control Blackgrass consider the following guidance:
a. ALWAYS follow available guidelines for preventing and managing herbicide resistant grass and broadleaved weeds.
b. DO NOT use ARELON 500 as the sole means of grass weed or broadleaved weed control in successive crops.
c. ALWAYS monitor weed control effectiveness and investigate any odd patches of poor grass or broadleaved weed control. If unexplained contact your agronomist who may consider a resistance test appropriate.
Consult your agronomist for up to date guidance on chemical and integrated control measures that may be appropriate on a local basis.
A strategy for preventing and managing resistance should be adopted. The Herbicide Resistance Action Committee (HRAC) produces guidelines that may be consulted for additional information.

CROP SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Winter and spring wheat, winter and spring barley, rye and triticale
Post emergence only in autumn, winter or spring
Maximum individual dose: 3.0 l/ha.
Maximum total dose: 3.0 l/ha/crop.
Apply in the autumn or spring post-emergence of crop until before second node detectable stage of crop growth (GS 32).
The residual action of ARELON 500 will be reduced on soils with more than 10% organic matter and application on these soils should only be made in the spring.
All commercially available varieties of winter wheat (excluding durum), winter barley, spring wheat, spring barley, rye and triticale can be treated with ARELON 500. Early sown crops e.g. September drilled, may be prone to damage if spraying should precede or coincide with a period of rapid growth in the autumn.
Water volume: Apply in 200 to 400 litres of water per hectare.

MIXING AND SPRAYING
Pressure: 2–3 bar.
Spray quality: MEDIUM

SUCCEEDING CROPS
If crop failure occurs for whatever reason following application of ARELON 500, an interval of 90 days after autumn application or 30 days after spring application should occur before planting any broadleaved crop. Deep ploughing should be carried out prior to planting any succeeding crop.

COMPATIBILITY
All the requirements or restrictions on other product labels must be adhered to when tank mixing with ARELON 500, which should be added to the tank first when mixing with other products. Continuous agitation must be maintained.
This product may only be used in a tank mix or in sequence with other products when these uses comply with the label recommendations of every product in the tank mix/sequence.
