CONTAINS
A suspension concentrate formulation containing 250 g/L (22.4% w/w) flurtamone and 100 g/L (8.9% w/w) diflufenican.
CONTROLS
For use only as an agricultural herbicide (contact and residual) for the control of annual meadow grass, loose silky bent grass and certain broad-leaved weeds in winter wheat, winter barley, winter oats, winter rye and triticale.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
IMPORTANT:
This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.

RESTRICTIONS
DO NOT treat spring oats, spring wheat, spring barley, durum wheat, undersown cereals or those due to be undersown.
DO NOT treat broadcast cereal crops as uncovered seed may be damaged.
DO NOT broadcast oilseed rape, or any other brassica crops, following the use of Bacara in the previous crop.
DO NOT direct-drill autumn sown oilseed rape following the use of Bacara in the previous crop.
DO NOT harrow the crop at any time after application.
DO NOT roll autumn treated crops until the spring.
DO NOT use on sands, or very light soils (Soil Texture (85) System) or very stony or gravely soils as there is a risk of crop damage.
DO NOT use on soils containing more than 10% organic matter.
DO NOT use on waterlogged soils, or on crops subjected to temporary waterlogging by
heavy rainfall, as there is a risk of persistent crop damage which may result in yield loss.

Avoid treating crops suffering from stress, pests, disease attack or trace element deficiency.
Application should not be made to frosted crops. Sharp or severe frosts following application to winter wheat or winter barley may cause crop scorch.

RATE OF USE

Weeds:Cleavers, Common Chickweed, Common Field-speedwell, Common Poppy, Corn spurrey, Field Forget-me-not, Field Pansy, Flixweed, Ivy-leaved Speedwell, Knotgrass, Mayweeds, Red Dead-nettle, Scarlet Pimpernel, Shepherds Purse, Treacle Mustard, Volunteer Oilseed Rape.

It may be appropriate to use a reduced rate of Bacara on certain varieties of oats grown on lighter soils to reduce the risk of crop damage.

WEEDS CONTROLLED
Strains of some annual grasses e.g. black-grass, wild oats, and Italian rye-grass, have
developed resistance to herbicides which may lead to poor control. A strategy for preventing and managing such resistance should be adopted. Guidelines have been produced by the Weed Resistance Action Group and copies are available from the HGCA, CPA, your distributor, crop advisor or product manufacturer.
Grasses

Where Bacara is used as an early autumn treatment, under some conditions there may be emergence of certain spring germinating weeds. Speed of activity is usually dependent on temperature and growing conditions. Activity can be slow under cool conditions. Moist soils at and after application are necessary to give the best results.
Following treatment, crops occasionally show transient discoloration on the leaves.

CROP SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Good weed control depends on burying any trash or straw before or during seedbed preparation.
Loose and fluffy seedbeds should be rolled before application. The final seed bed should be fine and firm and should not contain clods greater than fist size. The crop should be drilled to the normal depth of 2.5 cm. It is important to ensure that the seed is well covered.
Winter wheat, winter barley and winter oats
Apply via a horizontal boom sprayer at a rate of 1.0 L/ha. Apply in 200 400 L/ha as a MEDIUM spray (BCPC category). Use the higher volume where crop or weed foliage is dense. A spray pressure of at least 2 bars is advised. Good even spray coverage of soil and weeds is essential.

Ensure that spray swaths do not overlap.
Only one application of Bacara should be made to the crop.
Apply pre or post crop emergence from the first expanded true leaf stage (GS11) when susceptible weeds have not passed the stage shown in the above table, and before the crop reaches the second node detectable stage (GS32).

FOLLOWING CROPS AND CROP FAILURE
In the event of a crop failure for any reason, soil treated with Bacara can be re-drilled immediately with winter wheat, after normal cultivation. Ploughing is not essential.
Re-drilling may also take place with winter barley, but only after ploughing. Fields must be ploughed and an interval of 20 weeks should elapse between treatment and subsequent planting of the following spring sown crops: spring wheat, spring barley and potatoes. An interval of 18 weeks is required for spring oilseed rape, field beans and peas. Re-drilling (before the subsequent autumn) must only take place with listed crops.

Subsequent cropping in the normal rotation
Where Bacara and other products containing diflufenican are applied to successive cereal crops, levels of diflufenican will build up in the soil.
Ploughing with complete inversion of the furrow MUST take place before planting any following non-cereal crop. Even where ploughing is carried out, there may still be a risk of damage to following crops of onions, leek and related species, or clover. As a precaution, users who rent out their land to growers of these crops should not use diflufenican containing products in successive years before renting out the land.
Subsequent autumn cropping in the normal rotation
After harvest, soils previously treated with Bacara should be ploughed (ensuring complete inversion of the furrow slice) or cultivated to a depth of 15 cm. Thorough mixing of the soil must take place before drilling field beans, leaf brassicae or winter oilseed rape. For sugar beet seed crops and winter onions the soil must be ploughed ensuring complete inversion of the furrow slice. Avoid excessive compaction. Autumn sown cereals can be drilled as normal. Only drill crops listed. Occasionally in brassica crops some seedlings may show slight discoloration on the cotyledons. These effects are quickly outgrown and should not affect subsequent growth.
Subsequent spring cropping in the normal rotation
Ploughing must take place before planting any spring crop, other than those where ploughing is not needed in the autumn.

MIXING
SHAKE THE CONTAINER WELL BEFORE USE
Half fill the spray tank with clean water, begin agitation and add the required amount of Bacara. Wash out the container and add the washings to the spray solution, before topping up with clean water. Continue agitation until spraying is completed.
DO NOT
leave the sprayer filled with the spray solution standing for long periods. Wash out the sprayer thoroughly after use using a wetting agent or proprietary tank cleaner.
