Brachiaria milliiformis

Ascending annual with culms to 0.7 m long, occasionally rooting at the lower nodes.

Leaves with ligule a dense row of short cilia; blade 3–9 mm wide, usually subglabrous or with a few short hairs, margins smooth or undulate, finely whitish thickened.

Inflorescence of usually 4 racemes, mostly 2–5 cm long; spikelets arranged in 2 even rows or apparently in 1 row. Spikelets c. 4.5 mm long, glabrous, slightly constricted into a very short stipe-like base. Lower glume 30–50% as long as the spikelet, often 7-nerved; upper glume 7-nerved. Lower lemma 3–5-nerved; palea absent. Fertile lemma very shortly stipitate, reaching almost to the apex of the spikelet, 2.5–3.5 mm long, punctulate-striolate, the lemma embracing the thickened, shining keels of the palea.
