General Instructions for Genfarm Carfentrazone 400 Herbicide:

Overview:

  • Genfarm Carfentrazone 400 is an emulsifiable concentrate formulation.
  • To be mixed with water and applied as per the labeled Directions for Use.

Purpose:

  • Genfarm Carfentrazone 400 is a post-emergence herbicide.
  • Used to improve control of certain broadleaf weeds, including marshmallow, prior to establishing fallows and winter/summer broadacre crops.
  • Controls marshmallow in grass pastures, commercial, industrial, public service areas, and around agricultural buildings, yards, and other farm situations.
  • Can be used alone with a suitable adjuvant for volunteer cotton seedlings, including Roundup Ready cotton.
  • Used for desiccation of regrowth in cotton.

Symptoms:

  • Fast-acting contact herbicide causing membrane disruption in plants.
  • Rapid absorption through foliage.
  • Signs of desiccation appear within hours, followed by necrosis and death.

Timing:

  • Apply to small, actively growing weeds (<6 to 8 leaf stage).
  • Best control achieved when weeds are exposed and not shielded by other vegetation or stubble.
  • For cotton, apply if regrowth occurs after the initial defoliation program.

Mixing:

  • Half-fill the spray tank with water and start agitation.
  • Add any partner SC or WG herbicide if required before an EC or knockdown herbicide.
  • Add the measured amount of Genfarm Carfentrazone 400, followed by the knockdown herbicide (if required).
  • Add the balance of water, adjuvant, or additive recommended for use.
  • Maintain good agitation until spraying is completed.
  • Do not store the spray mixture overnight.

Application:

  • Do not apply by aerial application except for cotton desiccation.

Ground Sprayers:

  • Apply as a broadcast using a conventional boom sprayer with mechanical or bypass agitation.
  • Use specified single orifice flat fan nozzles. Avoid certain nozzles.
  • Calibrate equipment for correct and uniform application.
  • Spray volume: 50 to 150 liters per hectare (minimum 80 L/ha for volunteer cotton).
  • Ideal conditions: Moist soil, fine weather, and no rain expected within one hour.

Cotton Application:

  • Use sufficient water for complete coverage (at least 100 L water per hectare).
  • Use three or more nozzles per row for good coverage.

Knapsack, Pneumatic, Handgun Sprayers:

  • Apply at the recommended rate in conjunction with labeled handgun rates of a knockdown herbicide.
  • Spray volume: 500 to 1000 liters. Higher volumes for dense vegetation.

Aerial Application (Cotton Desiccation Only):

  • Apply by fixed-wing aircraft in a minimum of 30 L/ha water. Ensure thorough coverage.

Sprayer Clean Out:

  • Clean all spray equipment thoroughly after use, especially when spraying highly active materials like carfentrazone-ethyl.
  • Use an alkaline detergent cleaning solution.
  • Follow specific cleaning procedures outlined in the instructions.

Crop Plant Back & Rotation Recommendations:

  • Genfarm Carfentrazone 400 does not provide residual activity, and no crop plant back or rotational restrictions apply.
  • Check the label of any product mixed with Genfarm Carfentrazone 400 for specific plant back periods or restrictions.

Compatibility:

  • Compatible with formulations of knockdown herbicides, including glyphosate, paraquat, and glufosinate-ammonium.
  • Compatible with partner herbicides like atrazine, 2,4-D amine and 2,4-D ester, triasulfuron, pendimethalin, simazine, and trifluralin.
  • Compatible with non-ionic surfactants and oil adjuvants.
