Difen Options Selective Herbicide - Application Instructions
General Instructions: Difen Options Selective Herbicide is designed for use as an early post-emergence spray in clover-based pastures, field peas, green peas, lentils, and lupins. It can also be utilized as a post-sowing pre-emergence on lupins and green peas in specific regions. The herbicide offers both contact and residual activity, with residual effects lasting up to 8 weeks under favorable growing conditions.
Mode of Action: This herbicide is absorbed by the shoots of germinating seeds and seedlings. Susceptible weeds show immediate chlorosis followed by a mauve-pink discoloration. The affected plants become necrotic and die back.
Crop Impact: Transient crop discoloration may occur after application. Lentils and lupins may exhibit yellow or white banding on leaves, while clover and field peas may show white/pink coloration of leaf veins and tips. Crop height reduction may also occur, but subsequent growth is generally unaffected under non-stress conditions.
Precautions and Subsequent Crop Tolerance:
- Avoid application under stress conditions such as pre-emergent herbicide use, disease, insect damage, nutrient deficiency, frost, extreme pH, or excessively moist conditions.
- Certain pre-emergence herbicides, like atrazine, can cause stress to crops, particularly field peas. Thoroughly cultivate soil before sowing susceptible crops like canola to reduce effects.
Mixing:
- Stir product or invert the container before use to prevent settling.
- Half-fill the spray tank with clean water, add the required amount of product, agitate thoroughly, then add the remaining water. Reseal the container immediately after use.
Application: Ground Application:
- Use a minimum water rate of 50L/ha, but for optimum results, recommended rates are 70-100L/ha.
- Increase water volume in dense or heavily infested areas.
- Complete coverage of weeds is essential. Higher water volumes (up to 100L/ha) improve weed activity but may increase crop damage symptoms.
Warnings and Tank-Mixing:
- For tank mixtures with grass herbicides, follow recommended rates and surfactant recommendations.
- Do not use crop oils with Difen Options Selective Herbicide.
- Applications to stressed lupins and field peas may cause significant damage.
Resistance Management: Difen Options Selective Herbicide belongs to Group F Herbicides. Rotate with herbicides from different groups to manage weed resistance effectively.
Environmental Precautions:
- Avoid contamination of streams, rivers, or waterways.
- Do not apply under conditions causing spray drift onto susceptible plants, crops, or pastures.
Storage and Disposal:
- Follow specific instructions on the label for each container type.
- Store in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
- Triple rinse non-refillable containers before disposal. Do not burn empty containers.
- Follow local waste management regulations for proper disposal.
Envirodrum (110L):
- Store the sealed Envirodrum in a cool, well-ventilated area.
- Do not tamper with the Micro Matic valve or security seal.
- After each use, disconnect the coupler, rinse with clean water, and drain hoses.
- Return the empty Envirodrum to the point of purchase.
