GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Novaguard Hexazinone 750 SG Herbicide is an effective foliar contact and soil active residual herbicide.

  • Use sufficient water for thorough uniform coverage.
  • Apply as a post-emergent spray during the period of active plant growth when the air temperatures are 25°C and above.
  • Applications during dormant, semi-dormant, under moisture stress, or winter months may be less effective.
  • In temperate winter rainfall areas with temperatures below 25°C during active growth, the foliar effect may be slow to appear, relying more on root absorption.
  • Sufficient rainfall is required after treatment for residual control.
  • Results vary with the amount of chemical applied, rainfall, air temperature, soil type, and other conditions.
  • All use rates are expressed as overall rates. For band treatment, use proportionately less (one-third the overall rate for one-third of the area).

DO NOT:

  • Apply during periods of intense rainfall.
  • Apply when wind speed exceeds 30 kph (for ground application) or 20 kph (for aerial application).
  • Broadcast apply on slopes greater than 30%.
  • Apply on uncultivated areas or non-mounded bare ground.

RESISTANT WEEDS WARNING:

  • Novaguard Hexazinone 750 SG herbicide is a Group C herbicide with the Inhibitors of photosynthesis at photosystem II mode-of-action.
  • Some naturally-occurring weed biotypes resistant to the product and other Group C herbicides may exist.
  • Resistant weeds won't be controlled, and their dominance may increase with repeated use.
  • Novaguard Pty Ltd accepts no liability for losses due to failure in controlling resistant weeds.
  • Efforts to prevent seed set of survivors are crucial.
  • DO NOT make more than one application of a Group C herbicide in the same season.
  • If resistance is suspected, avoid using this product or other Group C herbicides.
  • Consult local authorities or Novaguard Pty Ltd representatives for strategies to minimize herbicide resistance.

Equipment And Application:

  • Novaguard Hexazinone 750 SG Herbicide is a dry flowable formulation.
  • Mix with water and apply with either ground or aerial equipment.
  • Keep the material in suspension at all times by continuous agitation.
  • Use strainer and nozzle screens of 50 mesh or coarser to prevent nozzle blockage.

For Pinus radiata:

  • Ground Application: Apply in 100 to 400 L/ha with a calibrated boom.
  • Forestry Spotgun: Follow specific Directions for Use.
  • Aerial Application: Apply a minimum of 20 L water for every 1 kg of product used.

For Industrial weed control:

  • Ground Application: Apply in 100 to 400 L/ha with a calibrated boom or 2000 to 4000 L/ha with hand spray equipment.

USE OF SURFACTANTS/WETTING AGENTS:

  • For pre-planting applications, use a surfactant/wetting agent by ground or aerial equipment.
  • DO NOT add a surfactant if the spray is over the top of Pinus radiata trees.
  • Add non-ionic surfactant/wetting agent at the rate of 250 - 500 mL/100 L of spray for improved wetting.

CROP SAFETY:

  • DO NOT apply after planting in specific situations to avoid death or injury to trees.
  • Avoid on trees with poor vigor, on poorly drained soils, or on gravelly or rocky soils with exposed subsoils.

Equipment Cleanup:

  • Thoroughly clean all traces of Novaguard Hexazinone 750 SG Herbicide from application equipment immediately after use.

PROTECTION OF CROPS, NATIVE AND OTHER NON-TARGET PLANTS:

  • Exercise caution to avoid damage to desirable plants.
  • DO NOT apply on or near desirable trees or plants, or where their roots may extend.
  • Avoid spray drift that could damage valuable plants.

PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE, FISH, CRUSTACEANS, AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • DO NOT contaminate water bodies with the chemical or used containers.
  • DO NOT apply within 25 m of a recognized waterway.
  • Exercise caution to protect native riverbank vegetation.

PROTECTION OF LIVESTOCK:

  • Keep stock away from treated areas.

STORAGE AND DISPOSAL:

  • Store in the closed, original container in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
