GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

  • This product, MEERKAT Herbicide, is a post-emergence contact herbicide effective against wild radish, providing residual control for up to 4 weeks after application.
  • Apply MEERKAT Herbicide immediately after mixing, and it should not be left standing in the spray tank overnight.
  • Optimal results are achieved when there is good soil moisture at and after application, and weeds are not stressed.
  • Some pre-emergence herbicides, such as atrazine, may cause stress to certain crops, especially lucerne and subterranean clover, leading to increased crop damage when used with MEERKAT.

RESISTANT WEEDS WARNING

  • MEERKAT Herbicide belongs to the nitrile and nicotinanilide groups, acting as an inhibitor of photosynthesis at photosystem II and carotenoid biosynthesis. Classified as a Group C, F herbicide for weed resistance management.
  • Naturally occurring weed biotypes resistant to MEERKAT and other Group C, F herbicides may exist due to normal genetic variability. Continuous use of these herbicides can lead to resistant weeds that won't be controlled by MEERKAT. Detection of resistant weeds before use is challenging, and Farmalinx Pty Ltd disclaims liability for losses resulting from the failure of MEERKAT to control resistant weeds.

TEMPERATURE WARNING

  • DO NOT apply MEERKAT if frosts are imminent, as frost can stress crops and weeds, potentially causing increased crop effects and decreased weed control.
  • MEERKAT should be applied when weeds and crops are no longer under stress from frost conditions. Avoid application when maximum daily temperatures above 20°C are expected for a few days after application, as it may lead to increased crop damage.
  • Crop Tolerance: Cereals may experience transient yellowing, and lucerne and subterranean clover tolerance can vary. Specific recommendations for application rates and varieties are provided.

MIXING

  • To ensure even mixing, half-fill the spray tank with clean water and add the required amount of MEERKAT Herbicide. Agitate thoroughly during spray operations, and immediately reseal part-used containers after use.

CROP TOLERANCE

  • Cereals may experience transient yellowing after application, with no long-term effects on development and growth, provided the crop is not stressed from other factors.
  • Lucerne, subterranean clover, and other clovers have varying tolerances to MEERKAT, depending on factors such as rate of application, soil type, crop health, stage of growth, and moisture and temperature stress. Specific recommendations for different varieties are provided.
  • For subsequent crops (e.g., canola), thorough soil cultivation before sowing is recommended to reduce the herbicide's effect on susceptible crops.
