GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: FARMALINX Metralan Herbicide

General Information:

  • FARMALINX Metralan Herbicide is non-corrosive to equipment, nonflammable, and non-volatile.
  • The efficacy and duration of weed control depend on various factors, including the applied herbicide amount, soil texture, rainfall, and other conditions.

RESISTANT WEEDS WARNING:

  • GROUP C HERBICIDE: Metralan Herbicide belongs to the Triazines group with a photosystem II mode of action.
  • Resistance management: It is a Group C Herbicide, and naturally occurring weed biotypes resistant to Metralan Herbicide and other Group C Herbicides may exist. Resistant weeds may dominate if these herbicides are used repeatedly.
  • Advice: Efforts should be made to prevent seed set of surviving weeds. Do not make more than one application of a Group C Herbicide to a crop in the same season. If resistance is suspected, consider alternative herbicides.

MIXING AND APPLICATION COMPATIBILITY:

  • Compatible with herbicides chlorsulfuron, metsulfuron, glyphosate, pendimethalin, propargite, Difen Options Selective Herbicide, and Trifluralin 480.

MIXING:

  • General Mixing: Mix Metralan Herbicide with water and apply as a spray. Calibrate equipment to determine the required water quantity. Partially fill the tank with water, add the herbicide with agitation engaged, and top up to the correct volume with water. Ensure continuous agitation to keep the material in suspension.
  • In Tank Mixes: Metralan Herbicide must be in suspension before adding companion herbicides or liquid fertilizers.
  • Pre-planting Incorporation Treatment: Mix Metralan Herbicide plus Trifluralin 480 as per labeled instructions.

APPLICATION:

  • General: Best results are obtained if treatment is made to moist soil, and rainfall or sprinkler irrigation (6-12mm) is supplied within 2 weeks after application. Heavy rains soon after application may result in crop injury.
  • Aerial Application (Qld only):
    • Peas: Apply in a minimum of 20 liters of water per hectare.
    • Potatoes: Apply in a minimum of 50 liters of water per hectare. Avoid overlapping spray swaths and spraying in still conditions or wind likely to cause drift.
  • Pre-emergence and Post-emergence (To crop):
    • Apply when weeds are not in the young seedling stage (no more than 3 true leaves). Under dry conditions, there is no root uptake.
    • Use fixed boom power sprayers set at 200-300 kPa (for tomatoes, do not exceed 200 kPa) with fan nozzles. Apply a minimum of 80-100L prepared spray/ha.
    • Agitate by mechanical or hydraulic means in the spray tank. Avoid overlapping during spraying.
  • Pre-plant incorporated - Soybeans only:
    • Metralan Herbicide alone or in combination with Trifluralin 480. Spray anytime from 4 weeks before sowing until just before sowing.
    • Use fixed boom power sprayers set at 200-300 kPa with fan nozzles. Use 120-500 liters of water per hectare. Agitate by mechanical or hydraulic means.
  • Sprayer Cleanup: Thoroughly clean all traces of Metralan Herbicide and/or Trifluralin 480 from application equipment immediately after use.

Caution: Use caution during application to prevent overlapping, especially during turns, as it may result in crop injury. Always follow labeled instructions and guidelines for the specific crop and conditions.
