GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Roundup Dura Herbicide is a non-volatile, non-selective, water-soluble liquid herbicide for the control of annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds in a wide range of agricultural and non-agricultural use situations. It may be used on agricultural land prior to planting any edible or non-edible crop but not before transplanting tomatoes. Care must be taken to remove residues from plastic mulch before transplanting, which can be achieved by 2 cm of natural rainfall or applying water via a sprinkler irrigation system.

The herbicide is absorbed by plant foliage and green stems, inactivated on clay and organic matter in soil, and does not provide residual weed control. It moves throughout the plant from the point of contact to and into the root system. Initial visible effects on annual weeds take 3-7 days but may not be noticeable for 2 to 3 weeks under cool cloudy conditions or on some perennial weeds.

CROP ESTABLISHMENT

Roundup Dura Herbicide is recommended for the control of emerged weeds prior to crop establishment. Suitable cultivation and/or planting operations providing conditions for crop emergence and establishment are required following herbicide application. In cases of heavy weed growth or unsuitable soil conditions, planting should be delayed to allow for weed decay and/or development of favorable soil conditions for seedbed formation. Incorporation of green or decaying vegetation may retard crop emergence under cold, wet conditions. Grazing and cultivation to leave trash on the surface can reduce vegetation.

MIXING

Roundup Dura Herbicide mixes readily with water. Reduced results may occur if water containing suspended clay or organic matter is used, or if water has high levels of calcium, magnesium, or bicarbonate ions. Galvanized steel or unlined steel containers or spray tanks should not be used, as they can form a highly flammable gas mixture. Recommended containers include stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, fiberglass, plastic, or plastic-lined containers or spray tanks. Thoroughly clean spray tanks, pumps, lines, and nozzles with clean water after application. The spray tank should be free of residue from other spray solutions before mixing. Use spray solutions promptly, as a gradual loss of activity may occur over days.

Mixing Instructions:

  1. Add water to the spray tank to approximately 50% full. Commence agitation and continue throughout the mixing process.
  2. Add water conditioners (avoid dirty water). For hard water, add crystalline ammonium sulfate (980 g/kg) at 850 g/100 L spray solution into the tank. Continue agitation.
  3. Add tank mix partners, ensuring each product is completely dispersed before adding the next one. Refer to the Sinochem Tank Mixing Guide for further details.
  4. Top up the tank with more water to about 75% full, continuing agitation.
  5. Add Roundup Dura Herbicide and the remaining water. Mix thoroughly.
  6. Add surfactant, if required, near the end of the filling process to minimize foaming. Always maintain adequate agitation during application and use the tank mix promptly.

Clean all equipment after use by washing thoroughly with water or with a high-quality tank and boom cleaner such as ALL CLEAR DS.

APPLICATION

Boom Equipment (Broadacre): For boom application, a spray volume of 80 L/ha or less is recommended for broadacre uses and 200 L/ha or less for treeline and vineline spraying in orchards and vineyards. Glyphosate works better at a higher concentration in the spray solution, provided sufficient coverage of the target is achieved. Nozzles and pressure settings should deliver a COARSE or VERY COARSE spray quality (as defined by ASAE S572) at the target, unless directed otherwise in the DIRECTIONS FOR USE table. Avoid using nozzles and/or pressure settings that produce VERY FINE or FINE droplets, as these are prone to loss or drift.

High Volume Application (e.g., Knapsack, Handgun Equipment): The dilution rate varies depending on the use situation and weeds controlled. Adjust equipment to achieve an even pattern with a COARSE spray quality at the target. Apply to ensure complete and uniform wetting of all foliage.

Wiper Equipment: Wiper equipment, such as ropewick, canvas, felt, or carpet applicators, can be used to apply Roundup Dura Herbicide. Avoid contact with desirable vegetation, operate wiper equipment a minimum of 10 cm above the crop or pasture, and ensure weeds are at least 15 cm above the crop or pasture at the time of application. Speed of travel should be no greater than 8 km/h, and best results are achieved at lower speeds with two applications made in opposite directions (double pass).

Controlled Droplet Application Equipment (CDA): Roundup Dura Herbicide can be applied through hand-held and machine-mounted CDA sprayers. Dilution rates, flow rates, and travel speeds need to be determined for individual sprayers to ensure label rates are applied. Thoroughly clean spray units after each application to ensure optimum performance. Avoid adding oils to the Roundup Dura/water mixture to prevent application difficulty and reduced weed control.

Aerial Equipment: Aircraft application is allowed for control of weeds in forests, cropland, or pasture before establishing crops, new pastures, or new forest plantings, and for pre-harvest application, up to a maximum rate of 2.7 L/ha where specified. Aircraft application should avoid drift onto sensitive crops and pasture. Apply treatments using boom or Micronair equipment with a spray volume not less than 20 L/ha, settings for a COARSE to VERY COARSE spray quality (ASAE S572), and thorough washing of aircraft after each day of spraying to remove herbicide residues.

Application on Hilly Terrain: Increase water volume to 30-80 L/ha and use a COARSE spray quality to optimize spray coverage.

Air Temperature and Relative Humidity: Do not apply Roundup Dura Herbicide by aircraft at temperatures above 30°C. Increase spray output to at least 30 L/ha when temperatures rise above 25°C. Avoid application when relative humidity falls below 35%.

AVOID DRIFT: Do not apply treatments with spraying equipment or under weather conditions likely to cause spray drift onto nearby susceptible crops, pastures, or other sensitive plants. Spray drift is lowest between wind speeds of 3 to 15 km per hour. Application should be avoided in wind speeds below 3 km per hour due to variable wind direction and high inversion potential. Do not apply if the wind is blowing towards a sensitive crop or situation where off-target damage cannot be avoided.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST:

  • Avoid treating weeds under poor growing conditions.
  • Do not add surfactants, adjuvants, or other pesticides unless directed on the label.
  • Rain within 1 hour of application causing runoff may require re-treatment.
  • A withholding period for grazing is not required, but grazing of treated plants should be delayed to ensure herbicide uptake.
  • Apply treatments to weeds with at least one true leaf (broadleaf weeds) or two leaves (grasses).
  • If heavy grazing has occurred, allow regrowth to 6-8 cm before spraying and use higher rates recommended.
