GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS - FARMALINX Tufman Herbicide
Mode of Action:
- Systemic herbicide inhibiting cell division and growth in roots and shoots of sensitive plants.
Soil pH Consideration:
- Consider soil pH before use.
- Recommended for use on soils with pH of 8.5 or lower.
- Not recommended for soils with pH of 8.6 or higher due to potential adverse effects on following crops and extended rotation intervals.
Crops Sensitivity:
- Crops other than wheat, barley, oats, triticale, and cereal rye can be sensitive to low concentrations of FARMALINX Tufman Herbicide.
- Best weed control achieved with rainfall or sprinkler irrigation wetting soil to 5-7.5 cm depth within 4 hours of application.
Pre-Sowing Incorporated by Sowing:
- In WA, avoid applying to dry, sandy soils.
- In SA, seek advice before using rates above 15 g/ha on lighter soils (pH 7-8.5).
- On pH < 7 soils, apply just before sowing; on pH > 7 soils, timing less critical.
- Ensure sowing at a speed of 10 kph or more.
- Incorporate immediately if spray applied to dry soil and sowing delayed.
Direct Drilled Crops:
- Apply tank mixed with Paraquat or Glyphosate 450 g/L products according to labels.
Post Crop and Weed Emergence:
- Apply after crop emergence when weeds are small and actively growing.
- Different timing recommendations for wheat, triticale, cereal rye, barley, and oats.
- DO NOT use more than once each season in any one crop.
Resistant Weeds Warning:
- FARMALINX Tufman Herbicide is a Group B herbicide.
- Some weed biotypes resistant to Group B herbicides may exist.
- Conduct resistance tests before use if resistance suspected.
- Use in tank mixes and rotations with herbicides having different modes of action.
- Consult local agricultural authorities for resistance management strategies.
Grazing Advice:
- Nil withholding period for grazing treated areas.
- Avoid grazing within 24 hours of application for optimal weed control.
Crop Safety:
- DO NOT apply to stressed crops (weather, drought, waterlogging, acidity, alkalinity, poor nutrient status, disease, nematode, or insect damage).
- Crop yellowing and growth retardation may occur under severe stress, but recovery without yield loss is typical.
- DO NOT use in cereals undersown with legume pasture crops, furrow or flood-irrigated cereals.
- Avoid using FARMALINX Tufman Herbicide on light sandy ridges low in organic matter.
- DO NOT apply other sulfonylurea herbicides following FARMALINX Tufman Herbicide use.
- Variety-specific restrictions for barley, oats, and wheat mentioned in detail.
These instructions provide detailed guidelines for the proper use of FARMALINX Tufman Herbicide, including considerations for soil conditions, application timing, resistance management, and crop safety. Users are advised to adhere strictly to these instructions to ensure effective weed control and prevent potential adverse effects on crops.
