DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Captan 80 WDG fungicide is a dispersable granular fungicide for use in water as a spray for the control of certain fungus diseases of fruit, vegetables and ornamental crops, and as a soil treatment for the control of certain seed rots and damping-off diseases. Spray injury may result if captan is used with, immediately before or closely following an oil spray. DO NOT APPLY BY AIR.

RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT
For resistance management, please note that CAPTAN 80 WDG Fungicide contains a Group M fungicide. Any fungal population may contain individuals naturally resistant to CAPTAN 80 WDG Fungicide and other Group M fungicides. A gradual or total loss of pest control may occur over time if these fungicides are used repeatedly in the same fields. Other resistance mechanisms that are not linked to site of action but specific for individual chemicals, such as enhanced metabolism, may also exist. Appropriate resistance-management strategies should be followed.
To delay fungicide resistance:
Where possible, rotate the use of CAPTAN 80 WDG Fungicide or other Group M fungicides with different groups that control the same pathogens.
Use tank mixtures with fungicide from a different group when such use is permitted.
Fungicide use should be based on an IPM program that includes scouting, historical information related to pesticide use and crop rotation and considers cultural, biological and other chemical control practices.
Monitor treated fungal populations for resistance development.
If disease continues to progress after treatment with this product, do not increase the use rate. Discontinue use of this product, and switch to another fungicide with a different target site of action, if available.
Contact your local extension specialist or certified crop advisors for any additional pesticide resistance-management and/or IPM recommendations for specific crops and pathogens.
For further information and to report suspected resistance, contact MANA at 1 212 661-9800 (collect) or [email protected].

COMPATIBILITY
Captan 80 WDG Fungicide can be used at recommended dosages in accordance with spray schedules or recommendations by Provincial or Experiment station personnel. Do not combine with oil and strongly alkaline materials such as hydrated lime, which reduces the fungicidal activity. Do not use this product in combination with, immediately before or closely following an oil spray, or with solvent formulations of
parathion products.

MIXING
Fill the spray tank with clean water to one-fourth or one-third of final desired volume. Start agitation (proper agitation creates a rippling or rolling action on the liquid surface). Slowly add Captan 80 WDG fungicide at the recommended rate. Add water to desired final volume. Mix thoroughly and apply at once. Maintain sufficient agitation during mixing and spraying operations to ensure a uniform spray mixture.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Unless otherwise specified, rates are given in terms of Captan 80 WDG fungicide per 1000 liters of water. If expressed in kilograms per hectare, sufficient water to provide thorough coverage should be used. Except as specified, begin applications before or at first sign of disease and repeat as necessary to maintain control but observe limitations. Consult authorities for specific information as the timing, number and rate of applications needed will vary with local conditions.

APPLE
Disease: Scab
Rate:
Use 1.2 kg in 1000 litres.
Time: Apply in a regular protective schedule from green tip up to and including second cover spray. After second cover spray, reduce rate to 0.6 kg per 1000 litres if scab is at a low level in the orchard.
Do not apply within 7 days of harvest. Early season sprays may cause injury to foliage of Red Delicious, Winesap and other sensitive varieties.
Disease: Bitter Rot, Black Rot, Brooks Spot, Flyspeck, Sooty Blotch
Rate:
Use 0.6-1.2 kg in 1000 litres.
Time: Consult your provincial spray calendar for recommended dosage, rate and timing of applications.
Do not apply within 7 days of harvest. Early season sprays may cause injury to foliage of Red Delicious, Winesap, and other sensitive varieties.
Disease: Bulls-eye Rot (Gloeosporium perennans)
