Spurred vetch

Vicia monantha

Seed leaves remain in the seed. The first leaf seen is the true leaf composed of two bluish-green linear-shaped leaflets. The second true leaf has two pairs of leaflets. Following leaves have two, three or four leaflet pairs with a tendril at the tip.
Mature plants are prostrate or climbing, with ribbed, sparsely hairy stems. Leaves have four to eight pairs of leaflets which are slightly hairy on the lower surface. The tendril is usually three-pronged.
Flowers are pea-like, crimson or purple, fading to dark blue.
The pod is hairless, flattened and is up to 40 mm long.
