Melochia corchorifolia

Members of the Sterculiaceae are characterized by alternate leaves, usually simple, with stipules.
M. corchorifolia is a slender, branched, tough-barked plant, 60 cm tall, the stem more or less hairy, leaves variable in shape, broadest near the base or narrow and parallel-sided, tip pointed or blunt, margins toothed, more or less hairy on both surfaces, up to 6 cm long, leaf stalks up to 2.5 cm long; flowers in close clusters at the branch ends, mixed with many hairy bristle-like bracts, petals pink, yellow at the base; capsule hairy, longer than the sepals, splitting into 5 parts.
